A beautiful hotel with a excellent staff. I stayed overnight the room was very clean, the breakfast was great, the front desk staff was extremely nice and helpful, I was not from the area so Vanessa who works the front desk gave me directions, spoke every time I passed the front desk, I will never forget her she is so pleasant and helpful all hotels need a Vanessa. My family enjoyed our stay there and starting next fall when my daughter starts at Cal State Sacramento we will stay there on a regular basics this will be our second home. If by any chance you are looking for a hotel near Cal State Sacramento this is the place.

On a positive note...for the most part the staff is great. Avoid the studio suites because you are essentially sleeping in the kitchenette area. This is bad because the appliances are as old as the hotel. The refrigerators are loud and clunky which during the day is no problem however , we all know everything is louder at night. Even with earplugs you can still hear the refrigerator dripping and turning off and on. I talked to the front desk and they said they would have maintenance look at the refrigerator. That didnt help because, again, THE APPLIANCES ARE OLD AND NEED TO BE UPDATED! 5 nights of waking up every time that ridiculous refrigerator churns up like a freight train!
One small detail regarding television, there is no cbs channel. Asked front desk and they didnt care about that, said they'd look into when they could. No big bang theory, supergirl, late night with Stephen Colbert, CBS news or any sport covered by CBS (FOOTBALL INCLUDED) is not available. The TV channel label says CBS the actual broadcast is local Fox which is already on another channel.
These things may seem minor but when you are away from home for an extended period of time (1 week for me) its all about the "little" things.

Room tip: Avoid studio suite.

Stayed overnight for a local wedding. The hotel is fresh and up to date in style and amenities but has few downfalls causing me not to rate it higher...

The bathroom ventilation in the wing we were in (207) was non existent so you could offend the person your with fairly easily! It also made it next to impossible to shave.

The A/C unit cycles on and off through the night and is very loud... Enough so to wake you up throughout the night leading to poor sleep.

If you need a long term location with dishwasher, cooktop, etc. then this would be a good spot if you can tolerate the other issues. Rooms are not as large as your would expect for this type of property.

casilva54,

Thank you for your honest review of our property. Unfortunately in our warm Sacramento Summer / Fall our ac units do have to work overtime to keep the rooms cool. Our company is looking in to future upgrades to the rooms, so this feedback will passed along to our management company for consideration. As you mentioned we are ideal for longer stays because of our kitchens. Again thank you for your stay and your feedback.

A lovely hotel with wonderful employees. The breakfast was great, the room was very nice, and the employees were extremely helpful. They have an outrdoor seating area which was put to good use by our group. We enjoyed our weekend here very much.

First of all, the staff at this property were great! They were friendly and welcoming each time we came into the hotel. The room was clean, and the bed comfortable. However, if you are a light sleeper, this isn't the hotel for you. Despite having dual pane windows, the road noise from Howe Ave and Fair Oaks Blvd was terrible, especially during rush hour. The hotel is constructed out of wood, and therefore you can hear every step the guests upstairs make, as well as conversations in the next room. On our last night's stay, a group of people congregated outside the entrance of the hotel at midnight. Their noise woke me up, and I was wearing earplugs and we were on the third floor. I figured that the front desk would resolve this issue on its own, since the group was close to the entrance. The problem was not resolved until we called down to complain. For the price of staying at this hotel, the breakfast served is pretty skimpy. Just cold cereals, yogurt, toast, bagels, and muffins are offered. Granted, you can make your own breakfast in your room. The room decor was dark, and the cabinetry in both the bathroom and the kitchen were dated. There was a loose tile in the bathroom right where you stand to brush your teeth. The housekeeping staff, while doing a good job of cleaning our room, failed to provide us with a spare role of toilet paper, and we ran out of TP. Also, there was no Do Not Disturb sign in our room. Lastly, the HVAC set up is not ideal when it is hot outside. The AC unit is a window unit, and it only cools the living room. The bedroom does not have an AC, and you cannot open the window due to the road noise.

Mauz1,

Thank you for your honest review of our property. I am happy to hear that you were impressed with the friendliness of the staff, but sorry that you did not get good rest. We do usually suggest the top floor for light sleepers so that you don't have anyone above you to make noise. We have also reviewed with our night team to remind guests to not congregate outside the front due to noise issues.

Again thank you for you stay and review. We would love to have you come back the next time you are in Sacramento. We will be sure to get you a high floor facing the back of the property.
