First of all, the staff at this property were great! They were friendly and welcoming each time we came into the hotel. The room was clean, and the bed comfortable. However, if you are a light sleeper, this isn't the hotel for you. Despite having dual pane windows, the road noise from Howe Ave and Fair Oaks Blvd was terrible, especially during rush hour. The hotel is constructed out of wood, and therefore you can hear every step the guests upstairs make, as well as conversations in the next room. On our last night's stay, a group of people congregated outside the entrance of the hotel at midnight. Their noise woke me up, and I was wearing earplugs and we were on the third floor. I figured that the front desk would resolve this issue on its own, since the group was close to the entrance. The problem was not resolved until we called down to complain. For the price of staying at this hotel, the breakfast served is pretty skimpy. Just cold cereals, yogurt, toast, bagels, and muffins are offered. Granted, you can make your own breakfast in your room. The room decor was dark, and the cabinetry in both the bathroom and the kitchen were dated. There was a loose tile in the bathroom right where you stand to brush your teeth. The housekeeping staff, while doing a good job of cleaning our room, failed to provide us with a spare role of toilet paper, and we ran out of TP. Also, there was no Do Not Disturb sign in our room. Lastly, the HVAC set up is not ideal when it is hot outside. The AC unit is a window unit, and it only cools the living room. The bedroom does not have an AC, and you cannot open the window due to the road noise.
