We spent a weekend in Sacramento during our recent california vacation. The hotel is only a couple of blocks from the State Capitol in one of the nicest buildings in the area. Our 12th floor room was very comfortable, and nicely decorated. It was a bit lacking in drawer space (plenty of hanging though) and the bathroom was small - again without much room to lay things out. The surrounding area (other than the Capitol) doesn't offer much, and might be viewed as a little "worn" However, there is the fantastic Temple Coffee House right round the corner , and Old Sacramento is within easy walking distance. We also walked the 7+ blocks down to the Fox & Goose on a friday evening without problem. The hotel is obviously very popular for weddings, and although we did hear some noise from one it didn't cause us any disturbance. I don't think there is enough in Sacramento to bring us back, but if circumstances changed we would definitely look to stay here again.

The Citizen is a neat boutique hotel in downtown. The service staff was very helpful. The room was small in size bit decorated very nicely. The bathroom was also small but fully functional. The Grange restaurant was excellent. Terrific, high quality meal. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was formerly a building of law offices. There is a library of law books just off the main desk. The elevators have amusing quotes about government. All over the hotel are framed photos of workers and citizens making a stand for their rights. The rooms look like they were furnished out of the Restoration Hardware catalog.

The Citizen is located walking distance from Capitol Square. It doesn't have a pool. We ha d breakfast at the restaurant and enjoyed it very much. It is open and light, with modern furnishing. It was a great place for two adults, but I have difficulty picturing a family staying there.

Stayed 6 days, 5 nights for a business conference at the Sacramento Convention Center. Junior suite was spacious, with a comfortable bedroom and separate sitting area. Had free internet access with Joy of Life Club membership. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Convenient and close to downtown and convention center. Parking was expensive, but that is to be expected in downtown Sacramento. Room and hotel were decorated with fun retro look and cheeky political cartoons.

Only negatives: could hear noise from nearby nightlife; and bathtub was obscenely deep, such that a running start was necessary to get in.

The staff, decor, service, ammenities are good + + +. The room size for the deluxe queen room felt a little crowded for one person. In the bathroom there is no tub nor a vanity to place toiletries or hair appliances- it felt super crowded. I did visit my colleagues room upstairs on the 12th floor - her room was spacious with 2 TVs and a sitting area. It also had a large bathroom with a vanity, but I did notice really loud music coming from the building next door. I would not stay here again because there are many homeless people walking around and pan-handling. My co-worker and I felt very uncomfortable walking two blocks down to McCormick and Schmidts restaurant for dinner. There were quite a few homeless and altered state of mind types sitting in the doorways of abandoned businesses.
