“Great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

This museum has a lot of very interesting and varied artwork. The last time I was there I was a little disturbed by a few displays of their tasteless and creepy more "modern" artwork. Most of their artwork is genuine art and is fantastic!

I recommend visiting this place at least once or twice. And whenever they have something different on display. Most museums have the majority of their collection stored away since they don't have enough room to display everything!

“Great Art Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

What I love most about this museum, located in an historical mansion, is its galleries dedicated to Californian artists. In addition, it has interesting limited run exhibits such as two currently on view: Quilts and Afro-American Artists. Worth a visit when in Sacramento.

“Good collection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

The Crocker expanded and the collection is of interest. The gift shop is worth visiting. There is dining with both table service and self service. The food is very good. Members get a 10% discount a both the gift shop and dining. There is only metered parking so have plenty of quarters with you.

“Lovely museum in lovely old mansion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

This museum is very close to Old Sacramento and easy to visit. The old mansion part of the museum has a good collection of old masters, while the new part has mostly modern art. When we visited, they had a special quilt exhibit also at the museum. We also had a delicious lunch at their café. The curry chicken salad is exceptionally good.

“Wonderful Art Collection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

We were traveling west through Sacramento on our way to Napa Valley and decided to stop at the Crocker Museum. Good decision! We thoroughly enjoyed viewing this eclectic art collection in such a stunning venue. The old masterpieces were housed in the original Crocker Mansion and the more contemporary pieces were displayed in the newer wing. All the gallery exhibits were excellent.
A special work not to be missed is the monumental piece of Yosemite by Thomas Hill which was painted in 1871. There is a lovely cafe on the main floor which serves excellent fare. Parking on the street is free on Sundays.
