I am in utter disbelief at the misconduct of employees at this hotel.
Never mind the quality of the room. The bathrooms have no exhaust fans. Thus, you can imagine how our room smelled for the entire stay. When alerted to this, the front desk employees told us the rooms had "central ventilation" and a fan was not necessary. Well, in that case, the hotel desperately needs to clean its ventilation system, because it was 100% not working.
I went to the lounge shortly before 9am one day (they stop breakfast at 9:30) and there was hardly anything left. In the pastry display there were a few pieces of white bread and two danishes.
Several of our key cards deactivated OVER AND OVER. No, it was not because of my cell phone, despite the staff's insistence. It was because they are apparently using key cards way beyond their lifespan. We did them a favor and threw them away, as the hotel apparently doesn't know to do this when the same key has needed to be reset 3 times.
But never mind the quality of this substandard hotel. The hotel's policy is that rollaway beds are available for $10 per night. However, upon check-in, the front desk employee told us we would have to instead pay $80 per night to upgrade our room if we wanted a rollaway bed. To make the sale, she offered to throw in a "complimentary" rollaway bed if we threw down the additional $80 per night (an upgrade that cost more than our room rate alone).
I visited the front desk the next day and the employees were completely confused about the conduct of their employee. They gave us the rollaway bed for the advertised $10 per night, but one of our guests already had to sleep on the floor for one night because of this employee's claims.
I have politely and pleasantly left voicemails and emails to the general manager of the hotel several times to discuss the issue. None of them were ever returned.
I am not that picky about hotels. I have stayed in several Holiday Inn Express locations and none of them have been remotely this bad. But given that there are many other similar options in the immediate area, I would never even think about giving my business to this hotel if this is how its employees treat their guests. .
I hope this hotel goes under or finds a manager who knows what they're doing.
