“Tasty Surprise for Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013

Exhausted by shopping in nearby Lowes, we spotted the relatively new Giraffe's distinctive marquee from the parking lot. When we walked into the nearly empty restaurant for late lunch, our concern over a lack of patrons evaporated as we were warmly greeted and seated.

Giraffe thinks of itself as Mediterranean-themed. After eating, I think it's true but with a very strong Greek bent.

Our pleasant waitperson quickly placed a tray of crisped, seasoned pita chips on the table, accompanied by a tasty yogurt dip. Super stuff, and you are not likely to eat too many before the meal arrives.

I ordered a Beef and Lamb Kabob sandwich, which is actually served in a nice pita. Wow, a taste homerun. In addition to generous kabobs, the large serving includes tomatoes, cucumber slices, yogurt sauce and some salad greens. It's served with crispy french fries or other choices, like rice. The pita was strong enough for the filling, yet tender and tasty. You can pick this up or use a knife and fork.

My partner's choice was the Beef Stroganoff on Pasta. She chose Linguini over Macaroni. The serving was very appetizing, and the meat was thin sliced and generous. I tasted it and said fantastico. My wife ate every morsel and it was a generous plate, something we could split if we also ordered appetizers. Our waitress said that Giraffe was happy to split plates with no added charges.

I surveyed the menu (http://www.girafferoseville.com/#!menu/c24tf) and found quite a few items I'll be sampling on return visits. Great find in the heart of Roseville's very large shopping district. Go wear yourself out at Lowes or Home Depot, then leap into Giraffe for a tasty reward.

“Very good food, glad to find a non-chain restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Went with another couple to Giraffe Restaurant on a Thursday night. It is a new restaurant in Roseville, CA. The mac and cheese dish is awesome as well as the chicken kabobs and chicken alfredo. I think this place has a lot of potential to be "where the locals go". The silverware, glass ware and dishes are top quality. Some decor suggestions however; real napkins instead of paper, music, more art work, dim the lighting some.... It is obvious that the chef knows what he is doing, just a little tweeking of the decor and this place is off and running.

“Great service and good food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

If you like Mediterranean food, or if you want to try it stop by here!

The staff is very friendly. I stopped in as part of a group of 7 (which included two children). The staff were very quick to rearrange tables so that we could all sit together.

While waiting for part of the group to show up we were quickly served our drinks and pita chips with cucumber dip. Delicious! I could have just eaten that all night and have been happy.

All the time we had staring at the menu there were so many good options I couldn't decide so my husband and I ordered three entrees to share together. We ordered the lamb stew, the traditional mac and cheese, and the Greek style pizza.

The lamb stew was amazing. Served at the perfect temperature. It also came with saffron rice and pita bread.

The Greek pizza was a pita pizza. It had artichoke, feta cheese, olives, and more all baked on pita bread. It was good. It is served as a personal sized pizza.

The traditional mac and cheese was very good as well. It isn't cheddar mac as most people are used to, but made with white cheeses. Very good!

For dessert everyone ordered the Baklava. It was done perfectly!

One of the children in our group was an infant, but the other is 5 years old. The staff brought out animal masks and he was able to chose one to wear. Very cute!

In the corner of the room is a small TV showing football. The sound was off and music was playing in the restaurant.

The only downfall of the restaurant? They close at 9, even on Fridays.

Try this place out!

“Just ok -”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

The restaurant is clean and the waitstaff friendly. We found it very odd that they were playing Italian/French sound music overhead and on the tv screen in the corner had the movie American Beauty was on. I'm not sure a rated R movie is appropriate for a family dining restaurant.
We ordered the eggplant dip which was good but didn't have any eggplant flavor. It was grilled onions and peppers mixed with some creamed eggplant. Next was the bruschetta. It was 3 pieces of grilled bread with dry sundried tomatoes and feta on top. W we ended up pouring some yogurt sauce from another appetizer over it. We shared the spicy mac entree which had a great flavor. It has salami in it but instead of cutting it up it was served in half slices on top, I would've liked it cut up more. Also the sauce was a little thin but thickened up as it cooled off.
