I bought a Groupon voucher to take my friend to lunch for her birthday. Neither of us had been to Taste if India, but she loves Indian food.
The restaurant is appealing from the outside, but cold and very modern inside. By cold, I mean the interior was very chilly on a brisk winter day. The open steel, factory-like ceiling is cavernous so the heat seems to dissipate even after the owner raised the thermostat.
Aside from that, the food is close to a gift from heaven. We split garlic naan, creamed spinach, a lamb curry dish, and Tandori chicken. The flavors were bold and spicy without being too hot. The lamb was sweet and tender. The spinach dish was superb -creamy with the fresh vegetable and paneer cheese, small chopped.
The tandori chicken was the only disappointment. The flavor was great, but the chicken was over cooked and dry. After two bites I passed it up.
The restaurant offers a good looking, fresh buffet. The offered dishes were not labeled, which I would have appreciated. Our coupon did not apply to the buffet, and we were very happy with our menu items.
At 11:30 on a week day, at first we were the only customers. But more people came towards noon, and the owner relayed that reservations are advised on weekends.
This restaurant is a Must Try.
