“Japanese style room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

I typically don’t post review and have stayed at this hotel many times without any issues but if you decided to stay make sure that if we intend to sleep in late ask them to not to put you in the room that have the traditional Japanese furnishing due to the windows not having the traditional window covering and having the shoji style screen which doesn’t shield any light so you will be awake at the crack on dawn.

At the time of this review, the hotel is under construction to expand its property by 2014. As such, parking for guests is quite limited and parking has been expanded quite a bit off the premises. This means a long hike to the lobby. The hotel tries at times to accommodate guests by providing a shuttle, a golf cart valet whose schedule is inconsistent. Sometimes it's there and at other times there is no valet. So don't depend on it. Instead, bring your walking shoes for the long hike to the lobby.

The hotel appears to cater to business class travelers, as there are many accommodations for them.

The hotel itself is pretty clean for the most part. But what brings the Doubletree down in my rating is that is screams 1988 in decor, which is very tired and worn. However, the hotel makes up for it by providing big LCD screens and contemporary cotton bedding, duvets and myriad plump pillows for its rooms, as well as free Wi-Fi. The Internet speed is impressive and a big plus for staying here.

Watching the TV show "Hotel: Impossible" finds me looking for stains on mattresses when I travel; I did find what appeared to be a urine stain on my mattress cover. I placed a big towel between it and the sheet.

Speaking of towels, this Doubletree skimps on them. 2 bath, 2 hand and 2 wash cloths are all that you'll find. That's it. We did ask for more and were given an additional set, which helped.

The gym was clean and well equipped with free weights, a treadmill, stair climber and elliptical machine. There's also a laundry room next door to the gym for guests.

The cleaning and housekeeping staff are very cordial, greeting guests readily. Can't say the same for the reception/check-in desk. The clerk who checked us in acted as if he couldn't be bothered. When he was done he handed us 2 little bags, expecting us to take them without telling us what they were, so I asked. A man of few words, all he uttered was the monosyllabic "cookies." Same attitude with our key cards. Same with telling us what room we were in. Let's just say this check-in clerk has no clue what the word 'hospitality' means.

We'd stay here again because of it prime location right on the Pomona Fwy and across from a huge mall with many restaurants. Hopefully by the time construction and remodeling's completed, this Doubletree will get a 5-star rating.

Stay was fine but breakfast and bar staff are slow. Breakfast staff was rude. Coffee took 10 -15 min each morning to get. Location is fine, if you are working there, right across from a mall. Only one restaurant close by in the mall. The restaurant at the hotel is not worth eating at.

Although I was not charged a parking fee, I would not book until the construction is finished. There is construction between available parking and the hotel. My car got covered in dust/dirt. Expect to walk about 75 yards to get from your car to the hotel- parking near the hotel is very limited.
I am dissapointed that there is no construction warning when booking a reservation.

Room Tip: Wait for construction to complete, unless you are not parking a car there. There is a large mall acr...

Stayed here three nights on a business trip. It was close to our business location. Hotel was typical for this type of facility. The air conditioning was noisy at night which I did not like. Other than that the room was comfortable, the bed was comfortable, in the bathroom was fully stocked and work well. The location was across the street from a large mall which had a good place to eat - BJ's tavern. On the second day the room keys did not work and had to be reprogrammed. This happenned to all three rooms. The hotel breakfast buffet was pkay but pricey. I'd stay here again.

I stayed at this property a few months ago and then again this past week for a single night after needing to stay an additional night due to work and not able to secure a room closer to my project site.

This place creeps me out. It feels extremely dated. The rooms have a damp old smell. I was in a suite on the 4th floor. I opened the window for the night and the entire window and frame fell out! During the previous stay, the lights came on and off by themselves likely due to electrical issues and the room felt anything but cozy, a cold feeling ... like someone or something didn't want you there.

If you are Asian please don't let the 888 address fool you ... no good luck here :-)

I had breakfast downstairs and it was average.

I can't recommend this property until it's completely gutted and renovated or bulldozed. It's well past it's prime and one is better off at a Motel 6 for half the price.
