“Nice Surprise in the wine country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

The property is easily accessible from HWY 101 and location is very good to go to wineries in nearby Sonoma or north of Santa Rosa areas such as Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River valley. Being a Hilton Gold member did bring us some nice extra benefits, including complimentary breakfast, two water bottles, free wi-fi, etc.(see photo). The hotel itself is well renovated, with big large lobby and a baby grand piano, living room with nice fireplace, active room with pool table, and library seating arrangements, plenty of seating to relax for guests. Golf course is next to the hotel so I imagine they do quite a bit of conferences and weddings, etc. as the conference facility looks very well organized. From check-in reception (great job Jordan!), to waitstaff in the restaurant, everything was done correctly and efficiently with friendly, courteous, and professional attitude. Our room (parlor suite) was nicely furnished with a jaccuzzi tub in the bathroom. The king bed was super comfy with nice silky linen bed sheets. Crabtree & Evelyn products are nice products also.
Overall, highly recommend the property for a relaxing vacation in the wine country setting. Good value!

If you can tell, I am a loyal Hilton member when possible, so another review about a Hilton property. The location is right off the 101 Highway and within a short drive several restaurants. There is a golf course next door, so if you are going to stay in the area bring your ticks.

This hotel takes you back to the glory days of big open area hotels. The reception area is huge, open and the sounds of a fountain reverberate throughout. There is a small lobby bar and then the wine bar by the main restaurant, Bacchus. At the wine bar they serve 18 different wines by the glass with over 80 bottle selections. We only had breakfast at Bacchus which was very tasty. The service was a bit slow; however, there were several large parties our server had to work. The hostess looked over at our table and saw we did not have beverages so she brought over another server to at least get the service started, which was worth mentioning.

We opted for a room with a balcony facing the parking lot. What I found strange was the shared balcony with three other rooms. In this case it did not matter as the rain dictated we stay indoors. The rooms are clean and we found no issues, it’s a basic room. As I find with most older hotels, the walls are thin and one can hear neighbors.

The hotel is dated and showing age; however, I found the property to be clean and in good repair. The staff was friendly and engaging. Of course, the warm cookie is always nice. They have a sundries shop and as a part of their service offer Starbucks coffee. Overall, this is a nice place to stay as a base while touring Sonoma wineries.

We stayed here for two nights in mid December 2012 - The room is fairly spacious allowing for a sofa that our granddaughter slept on - instead of paying an extra $20 for a rollaway bed -- they did bring up extra sheets (always a good idea to cover the sofa anyway) and a blanket. They will give you two water bottles- you pay for anything extra. We were REALLY disappointed with the restaurant -- the food for everyone was poor. Prices HIGH. The mac and meatballs for kids was not macoroni and cheese like I expected but macoroni noodles with PESTO sauce and meatballs. Our six year old daughter about gagged. I was going to split it with her and I tried it -- just about tossed my cookies. The new york steak was $30 and tough. Do not order that. I could go on but you get the idea. Be sure to ask the front desk for the chocolate chip cookies otherwise they will not tell you about them.

This is a nice little hotel at a reasonable rate. We paid 154.00 for a king balcony with courtyard view. It included a full breakfast for two both days and a bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival.

We went in November so the leaves were changing and it was beautiful. The hotel could use some upgrading but the rooms were a pretty good size. It had a nice balcony with a table an two chairs that did have a lovely view of the pool, courtyard and gazebo and it was a great view with all the colors of the landscape. The beds were nice and comfy as well.

The staff were very friendly and very attentive. The restaurant in the hotel "The Bacchus" is not that great. The breakfast buffet was just okay and the dinner we had we SO overly expensive and NOT good. The wine selection is VERY poor which is pretty unacceptable being you are in wine country.

Here is where the 3 stars instead of 4 came in. After taking a shower and grabbing the washcloth, I was horrified to see a large dark brown (the size of a softball) stain on it. I am hoping from somebody's make up, but this was not a faint stain...it was VERY dark. It was pretty gross. I called downstairs. The manager "Kathy" was great. She had a whole new set of towels sent up. Unfortunately, whomever was in charge of house keeping didn't do their job. They sent up new towels and the bath towel had three holes in it. My boyfriend and I just couldn't believe it. We took the towel downstairs on our way to dinner. They were very appologetic and really embarrassed. But this was really unacceptable. They did take a wine and cheese tray up to our room as well as a tray of chocolate covered strawberries (which were delicious) to make up for it.

I have to say, besides that, and I realize that is pretty bad. We would and will go back and stay at the Double Tree. Overall we had a nice stay there.

Room Tip: Try to get a balcony with a courtyard view

We stayed here for three nights as part of a month-long West USA road trip. Very easy to find off the highway. We were tired by the time we arrived here and we didnt expect it to be so good. The girl on reception was very helpful in advising what was in the area and sorted out our rooms very quickly even though there were three large weddin groups in over the three days.
Rooms were very good, ok wall was a bit thin as someone else noted but it only meant you could hear the people in the next room if they were noisy. We were next to our mate and we could hear her singing to herself which was very funny. pity anyone on the other side.
Pool was very good, hot tub very clean.
only thing was that the restaurant was very quiet(empty) and the bar set-up was unusual. Could be an idea to look at some mood-lighting? And comfy chairs?

Enjoyed it though and we were fit and ready to take on Nevada,Utah and Arizona when we left there.

From my review on FlyerTalk:

Stayed here for one night on the MVP rate of $125; great rate. The property is showing its' age in the rooms/bathrooms. The going rate is around $165, so I would like to see more updated facilities; for $125, it was acceptable. Walls are too thin for my liking, noisy neighbors may be heard quite clearly, but this isn't a party hotel, so most people don't stay up too late.

Previous reviews accurately describe the common areas and floor/room layouts...a bit odd for sure.

Check-in was quick and painless, handed a pre-printed card with HHonors Gold benefits printed on it. Was told I was upgraded to a balcony room overlooking the pool area. Mine was a standard size room, but according to the fire escape map on the inside of my room door, there are double-wide rooms available. Staff is friendly, professional and efficient, parking is free.

This hotel is nowhere close to downtown Sonoma; 30 minutes by car. If you want to be near quaint, historic Sonoma, you'll need a different property.

We stayed at this hotel for an office "retreat". It was a good location to the vineyards, shopping, restaurants etc. You do need a car to get anywhere and plan on driving 30 minutes. Food was great at the hotel, the public areas were very well maintained. The rooms were average. The service was friendly. Bathrooms needed updating. The gym was very small, but each treadmill had its own TV. Nice heated pool, but not meant for swimming laps.
