“Nice hotel, but not luxurious rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We stayed at this hotel for an office "retreat". It was a good location to the vineyards, shopping, restaurants etc. You do need a car to get anywhere and plan on driving 30 minutes. Food was great at the hotel, the public areas were very well maintained. The rooms were average. The service was friendly. Bathrooms needed updating. The gym was very small, but each treadmill had its own TV. Nice heated pool, but not meant for swimming laps.

“Nice for a Double Tree - Not Super Luxurious but Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We recently stayed at the Double Tree Rohnert Park for a family wedding that was held at the property. I have stayed in Double Tree's before and this was one of the better one's that I have stayed at.

SERVICE:
The service was excellent at the DoubleTree. There was not one employee or manager that was ever nasty, rude, or who was not willing and able to answer questions or help us out at any time. Very pleasant.

ROOMS:
The rooms were nothing to write home about as they were standard hotel rooms that we were in. However, some of the rooms did have balconies which could be a + for you if you are interested in a room with a balcony. Also, the rooms had fridges in them which is always a +. However, there was no safe in the room to lock up valuables which was dissapointing. All in all, the room was clean, maid service was good as well.

GROUNDS:
The Double Tree is surrounded by a golf course which makes it nice and quiet. Also, the hotel is sort of shaped in a courtyard style as in the middle of the courtyard, there was a heated pool and sauna as well as a patio area with couches and 2 firepits which was nice after a day out at the vineyards to sit down and enjoy a snack and a bottle wine by the fire.

AMENITIES:
The hotel has free wi-fi (ask for the password upon checkin). Free fitness center. Heated Pool, Jacuzzi, Coin-Op Washer and Dryer on each floor, Vending, Small Sundry Shop with Starbucks, Office/Business area, small billards table in lobby, meeting rooms for weddings and other events, and a lobby bar as well as restaurant. The resuatuarnt, (Baccaus) was good. (Please check out my review of the restaurant)

LOCATION:
This hotel is located about 30 minutes or so from the Sonoma Valley, about 1 hr from San Francisco, and about 45 minutes from Napa Valley.

All in all, the hotel was a nice home base while we were in the wine country, It wasnt overly expensive, service was great, was located close to attratcions, and served its purpose. I would stay here again.

“No surprises. Slightly above average all the way around.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

It's what you'd expect. Pretty nice rooms: clean, well-appointed, reasonably quiet. A little corporate and sterile. But all-in-all a positive experience. And a warm cookie on check-in.

A few tips: The hotel has a good room service menu (also ask for the restaurant menu, too - you can order from it). EXCELLENT wine list, as you might expect (again, ask for the restaurant wine list - very comprehensive).

The breakfast is great, as is typical of most Hilton properties. The buffet is the best value (but order the 'B&B' option online).

There are only two elevators, so ask for a room reasonably close by one, otherwise it can be a 15+ minute round trip to and from the room (for when you forget your sunglasses).

Some rooms have porches...I'm not sure which rooms they are, but, as the property is surrounded by a golf course, it would be nice to sit and sip some wine on the porch.

Dining at Hana Japanese restaurant is a MUST (and a four minute walk from the hotel). Excellent food, great service, and an extremely knowledgeable sake sommelier...I learned a ton about sake from someone who just LOVES doing what they do...very cool.

Rohnert Park isn't a destination to which I'm likely to return, but it is a pretty good central location for discovering the wine country. Overall, pretty high marks.

“Nice property.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Our daughter is at Sonoma State University, so we stay here often. I like the gym and the Starbucks located on site. Beautiful pool and landscaping. Rooms are nice too. One complaint. Quit charging for Internet usage.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are great. Also, keep your eye on the Hilton site. They change rates quite frequently...

“Good 4 star hotel; very comfortable but not luxurious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

This is a large hotel and conference center located on a golf course. It is easy to get to from the freeway that connects Santa Rosa and the Bay Area. The rooms are clean, large, comfortable and recently updated, but are not luxurious by any means. Long corridors make for a lot of noise from other guests. Walking distance to a couple of restaurants and a convenience store, but otherwise quite isolated. Staff were generally very good. In-hotel restaurant was OK for breakfast but not dinner.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the courtyard; these have balconies.
