Cuisines: Seafood
Description: Market Broiler rose from the tradition of California seafood landmarks dating back to the 1950's. It's a casual, comfortable, moderately-priced, full-service, restaurant where fresh fish and seafood are prepared over mesquite charcoal flames.Key to its presentation is the fresh fish market, where all fish being served is on display. In addition to 18 fresh fish offered daily, entrees of fresh chicken or aged beef as well as salads and pasta are offered. The food is flavorful and portions are generous. The homestyle theme is borne out by the fact that the chowders, sauces, and dressings are made from scratch in each restaurant. Our popular sourdough bread is served warm at your table as a part of the meal.

“Better than eating seafood in Alaska”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

Having just returned from a trip to Sitka and Juneau, I can report that our recent meal at the Market Broiler exceeded any that we had in Alaska. The appetizers could make a meal in and of themselves. You can't really can't go wrong with any of the fish dishes, but I would suggest you splurge and get the surf and turf, a perfectly cooked steak accompanied by a lobster tail.

“Quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

Thought Red Lobster was going to be my favorite sea food restaurant when I moved here. Not! Market Broiler is often packed and you do have to wait but it is worth it. Just great healthy food, wow, for a change!

“Great seafood”

Well-prepared seafood, varied menu. Service is sometimes slow during busy times, but worth the wait.

“Great fish and sourdough bread”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2012

This is the place to get fresh fish in Riverside. They cook the fish over open mesquite flame - which you can watch through the window. The sourdough bread they serve is hot from the oven and the second best to Boudin's in SF. The sushi is large rolls and delicious, although authenticity is perhaps lacking. In fact, they sell fish as well, so you can also cook some your way at home. The atmosphere is nice, but not as nice as the Ontario Market Broiler - so if it is date night, you might want to cruise over there instead.

“They don't always serve you what's promised on menu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2011

Although most of my dining party were satisfied with their food, I experienced unusual disappointment at this Market Broiler. The yellowtail tuna fish was said to be freshly caught but its dryness reflected that "previously frozen" taste & texture. The tuna's serving size provided only about 10 bites and overall, wasn't worth the premium price. Despite my asking for well-done veggies, most of the stemmy broccoli and carrots were so hard, they had to be cut with a knife.

The waiter was friendly and helpful but my requests for better quality were not conveyed to the cooks. A shirt & tie employee (manager?) asked if we were happy with our food but I wimped out, remaining silent as the others all spoke well of the dinner. I didn't want to put a cloud over a happy occasion. This has happened before at Market Broiler. Bottom line: Be aware they may not provide the quality for every dish. Stick to the tried and true when dining here.
