“The Best of the Best Western Chain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

I have been staying at the Best Western nearly every week for the past few months.
The Hotel staff are friendly and welcoming, the hotel is clean and comfortable with nice amenities, and the location is great for my job at the military. From the moment you pull up you are welcomed by the front desk agent. The rooms are spacious and clean with comfortable beds.
The hotel also has a spacious gym with numerous machines. Additionally, the food that they serve during there breakfast is wonderful. there coffee is better than most hotels i have stayed at.

Room Tip: rooms are great and very clean never had a problem in any of the rooms and i have been staying there...

I stayed here in the past and the button ups looked more professional on house keepers. Now they have a lower budget type look that just looks frumpy. Also noticed that uniforms have upgraded for other staff which was nice but brought attention to the down grade to house keepers smock... Cramped double queen room, barely enough space for a walk way. Would be better if they were doubles up stairs and singles down stairs. Other then that breakfast was grand.

Room Tip: stay upstairs whare theres more space.

Dear: Mrs T,
I would like to thank you for your comments regarding your stay here at Best Western Plus China Lake Inn.

I have passed your comments to our Management team. We have considered your complaint and have decided to go back to our original smocks. Unfornatanly as far as some of our rooms with two beds being too small this is out of our control.

We do offer larger two bedding rooms upstairs. If you decide to stay with us in the future please request for the larger room's. Please except my apology we hope you will reconsider staying with us in the future.

Thank You
General Manager

Just a mile or so from the military base, this place is definitely not worthy of a "Plus", but it is one if the few choices in Ridgecrest that isn't a rat-trap. The double queen rooms are too crowded to maneuver comfortably. The King rooms are the better choice.
The biggest disappointment is the breakfast that is full of carbs. Waffles, biscuits & gravy, packets of oatmeal, packaged muffins... well, you get the idea. You'll have to compete with the hotel staff in the breakfast room as they all come in for breakfast, and stand around completely unaware there are hotel guests waiting for them to move. I've never seen the housekeepers, front desk, and maintenance people crowd out customers this way before. I wonder if they're on the clock?
Check-in was mishandled by the woman that was not adequately trained on how to use the computer system. Stick to your reservation agreement, but bring your patience. The group behind me received a cheaper rate with their AAA card. The parking is plentiful and motel-style, right next to the room. The bathroom has an odd layout, but was very clean. The outdoor spa is nice, and the fitness room is okay.

very nice hotel, clean, large rooms, nice pool and hot tub and quiet. Moved here after staying at the Econo Lodge. When my wife walked into the bathroom she saw a cockroach on the floor. The next morning there was one int he bathtub. When I informed the clerk at the front desk she said "We don't have roaches they are palmento bugs. Turns out palmento bugs are cockroaches. Had to wash everything we took in so I didn't bring them home with me. Nice continental breakfast.

Room Tip: Hope they call the exterminator. Typical problem for homes in Ridgecrest.

We are extremely sorry for your experience during your recent stay with us. These “bugs”, no matter what you call them, are a nuisance to us and our guests. We have been proactive and do utilize the services of a nationwide reputable pest control service. They come bi-monthly and spray to erradicate any such pests. We have contacted them and they have come during the past week and taken a close look and treated to eliminate this type of guest experience.
We want our guests to have a comfortable stay when they are staying with us. Please accept our apology and hope that you will stay with us in the future.

We stayed here for only one night, but wished it could have been more! It started with a very friendly desk clerk, Patrick, and we had a very clean, comfortable and affordable room. It was on the ground floor, but we didn't hear anyone above us. The breakfast was amazing! It included the usual cereal, sweet rolls and coffee, but we could also make waffles and have biscuits and gravy, etc, etc. What a good deal!

This is the second time we've stayed here while traveling through this area. Central location, easy parking, great staff. Even got to use the spa, which was very nice. We were on the ground floor and the people above us had very heavy feet.

I guess this hotel has good rooms and lousy rooms. We perfer ground level floor when there is no elevator. So we had ground floor the room was very small with two queen beds, the bath was wierd with a door that was always in the way. Toilet did not flush, we took back off and pulled the chain, ants in bath and the door key refused to work on second day, plus the door has a big crack running down. Checked the other reviews and top floor must have lots better rooms up next to office. Should have checked them out. The lady at the desk was nice but she should know what she's selling.

Room Tip: Stay close to office area.
