“Decent hotel, had an antsy situation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

Jason at the front desk was great, even before we got there. He hooked us up with a car rental company that will drop off the car rental and pick it up 2 days later. That saved us a lot of time and hassle. He also booked us a tour for Disneyland. The room was clean and decent, though the first room we were in had ants in the tub. Just a few. Nothing too serious. We did see the critters around again at breakfast the next morning, but honestly, they are just small little black ants. I suspect they had some sort of ant outbreak in September 2013. The internet service was handy and we loved the close proximity to the beach.

Stayed here somewhat unexpectedly when hosts came down with flu. Booked online and got their winter deal. Turns out their winter deal is because they are closing on 12/29 for at least six months of a "multi-million dollar" renovation. Apparently, they're going to become more of a "boutique hotel." I hope that doesn't change the good things and they become too much like other South Bay places (ie snooty ) ...
The good:
+ clean rooms- no issues at all
+ hot water and good water pressure
+ very friendly staff (who addressed an issue very politely)
+ family friendly place
+ rooms were a decent size; didn't feel crammed or in a shoebox
+booked online earlier in the day and got winter deal (no 24 hour type of requirement)
+ free, easy parking
+ walking distance to several restaurants & King Harbor Pier

Could have been better ...
- dog fee (said issue above) Seems silly that they were charging a $20 dog fee two nights before shutting down for remodeling. They agreed in the morning and said they'd reimburse. (Pretty sure they couldn't tell the dog had been in the room; I use a dog sheet on the bed and take extra care to not ruin pet policies for fellow dog owners). May be a moot point after reservations
- "hot breakfast" was pretty basic and not all that hot. Imitation eggs were kind of gross.

Seems that this place will be closing on 29 Dec 2013 and will reopen in June 2014 after a multi-million dollar remodel. It's in a convenient location across from the ocean.

Rooms were clean and wifi is free. Breakfast is free.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel and have nothing to complain about.

We were able to check in to our room at 9am after our flight from Australia. The rooms are comfortable. The hotel is quiet. The location is perfect. The area is safe.

We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Head to Manhatten Beach for a meal. Just up from the pier. You won't be disappointed.

Just finished a two night stay here and was very pleased. The front desk staff is very friendly and the premises are well-kept, with a large and very pleasant breakfast room with glass walls overlooking the marina and nice gardens. Pool is also in good condition and good-sized. The beds were very comfortable and rooms were spacious and clean. I only had a problem with working the TV remote, but that could be me.

Front desk staff indicated on check-out that the hotel is scheduled to be shut down for renovations near the end of December 2013, after which it will reopen, possibly with a new name. She said to look up the hotel on the internet under Pacifica Hotels in Redondo Beach, CA. Will definitely do that the next time I visit my relatives in Redondo, because I liked it already, and I imagine the experience will only get better!

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the building have a marina view. There is an elevator. Breakfast is removed ve...

We were assigned a room overlooking the back parking lot. Since we do not stay inside a room all day, it was not a problem. The beach/bike path across the way offers plenty to see and do outdoors in nearly perfect year-round weather. Standard amenities are appreciated (on-site computers and breakfasts). Staff is pleasant and efficient.

Room was very clean, breakfast was great and walking distance in a nice area to wonderful restaurants. Exceptional value for the price. I would recommend for a weekend away or if doing business in LA - very easy to get around from this location.
