“It is what it is”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

My kids LOVE the 49er flapjacks (which are great) so it is worth the drive from Santa Monica once in a while to get them. They do a great business- always a wait, but good predictable food.

“I went there three times and I'm never unsutisfied!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012 via mobile

You just can't find one dish that tastes bad, everything is delicious!
I went there for three times and if I could I would go there everyday.
The food is excellent, the waiters and cookers are fast and there's a nice atmosphere.
Your glass or cup is always refilled.
If you're not hungry, do not go, because the servings are abundant.
The only bad thing is that there is no dinner: the restaurant closes at 2pm and that is a very bad time.

“What I expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

I went because I like local restaurants and local people when I travel. TripAdvisor suggested the pancakes and corned beef hash were really good here.

I had the hash. It is indeed real corned beef and nothing scary from a can. It was tasty, though I got a big chunk of rubbery fat in one forkload. It always looks so impressive pulling food out of your mouth in a restaurant.

The potato pancakes that were a side came with apple sauce or sour cream. Foreign to me. I tried the apple sauce. It was pretty good.

The coffee kept coming and the service was friendly if brisk.

I wouldn't rave about the place, but it does the job when you're hungry in the morning.
