“No Problems and No Regrets”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2011

We spent one night here as a jump off for crossing the Trinity Alps to the coast, which is a "most of the day" drive. I don't normally stay at a Rodeway because I feel they are on the lower end of the Choice chain. But reviews here placed this hotel in the middle of the pack and...they are right.

The hotel is located on the northern end of town. It's shaped like a "U" and is an "exterior corriders" style motel. For a city that I don't think has a lot of warm weather, it had one of the larger pools I've seen, plus a hot tub for 6-8. Yes, there were leaves in the pool; it was the end of November. Who's going to be swimming?

No problems with check-in. When I asked about a "local" place for dinner, the manager recommended Lim's, a long-established (1930's) family owned place a few doors down which features both Chinese and American cuisine and daily specials.( I'm reviewing Lim's separately.)

I wasn't surprised that there is no computer in the lobby for Internet access. The room refrigerator is waist high and there's a microwave too. TV is a CRT-style flat screen. I asked for a quiet room and was placed near the pool, at the "bottom" of the U, so I was as far from the street as possible.

Breakfast included "you make 'em" Belgian waffles, orange juice (which I found to be "thin") and coffee, bread, two cereals, and instant oatmeal. This is probably standard fare at a Rodeway. If you're crossing the Trinity Alps and want to supplement your breakfast (because there's not much civilization until Eureka) , you'll pass all the usual fast food chains as you head into downtown Redding to get onto Eureka Highway.

I'm rating the "location" as poor because there's not much around the hotel to walk to. It is not a "rough" area.

“a little shabby but not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2011

We spent 3 nights at the Rodeway; 2 different rooms, $75 per night. In the one room we had to giggle the parts inside the toilet tank to make it fill up, in the other the toilet would run on and off because there was a leak somewhere. The control for the heater in the bathroom was sprung and could not be set; someone had crammed a foil wrapper under it to keep it on. Both rooms could really use a paint job. But, it was quiet and the staff was friendly and the rooms were basically clean. Bring your own pillows cuz theirs are sad. Internet was free! Unlike other motels we stayed at that charged as much as $3 per day. Neither room had a clock, but did have fridge, microwave and coffee pot. Pretty basic, but we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Dont get the room near the spa unless you want to hear the gate banging every time someone uses it...

“Basic, Bargain and a real Deal for Budget Traveller!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2011

I was travelling through the area and needed a night to rest for the family as the KOA campsite we drove to in Redding was no longer in existence.
I walked into the hotel lobby and spoke to a young lady name Arsh and ask her what is the rate for a standard room (2 dbl. bed, no smoking, no pets) - $75.99/Nt. ok, not bad, do you offer discounts for any affiliation to Workperks or Corp. employees? What's that, was the reply... obviously she's never heard of it. Oh well, I'll be back.

I went outside, made my own reservation on my wife's new iphone got the deal I wanted for $55.99/Nt. went back inside and checked in. Holy smoke! She was flabbergasted! How on earth did you do that? I work for Rodeway and I don't even get a discount like that. Ok, onto the review... The Rodeway Inn at this location (532 N. Market St., Redding) is fairly basic, clean, and for the price you pay is of great value if you got the discount.
It does have a swimming pool and hot tub which my son and I enjoyed.

Wi-fi is spotty at first and I had to check in the lobby to find out which ones to use. Apparently, there was 3 types, choose the Rodeway Inn 2 as this was the strongest and is free with no password required.

I have been on the road for over 2 weeks, traveling from Victoria BC, to Portland, Reno (Circus Circus Hotel) which BTW didn't even have a "Swimming Pool!" Nor did they even offer a fridge, microwave and ONLY allow one pc to use per day. Any additional electronic item like ipad or laptop will be charged on top of the daily useage.

If you are travelling through and need a place to sleep and not too picky with choices... this is the place - clean, basic, and a real bargain.

Room Tip: Our Room 128 had a semi-broken toilet where the flush didn't work properly. Other then that, th...

“Ok if all you need is sleep”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2011 via mobile

Easy evening check-in. The place really needs some detailing, peeling paint and lots of cobwebs. The service in the morning was poor. Only one employee working the reception desk and breakfast nook. Kept running out of stuff during breakfast. It seemed as if the guests were a burden.

“Pretty Nice For The Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2011

I stayed here with my kids on a wednesday as we were driving through to our destination. My kids are very, very, very picky. Especially on a family trip they tend to be more picky. They like to pay more for things becuase they believe it makes it better....Anyways i got a great deal on the room and believe it or not the three rooms we had were much better than some rooms that we have bought for $120. We were all amazed to find a refrigerator and a microwave in all our rooms. We didnt even have suites, just regular rooms with two beds which were very comfy, and i almost wanted to steal there pillows haha. And they actually have one of the larger pools that i have seen at a hotel. The kids had a lot of fun jumping in the pool and then relaxing in the spa afterwards. I was reading through some of the reviews on here and was a little astonished at some of the negative remarks but i know i enjoyed my stay. My family liked the place, and my wallet did too haha. Next time i drive thru the town il deffinitly stop there again.
