Friends and I traveled to the area by motorcycle to see the redwoods. Booked our cabin several weeks in advance, requesting one of their larger units that had three beds; a twin, double and king. When we arrived we were notified there was a problem with the unit and would we mind staying in one with two doubles and a futon. No problem, but they would not reduce the price even though this room normally rents for less!
The loud man who lived in the office/manager unit could be heard screaming at someone (anyone?) at all hours. His wife (?) was just as rude, telling us to make sure to not use their bath and kitchen towels to wipe down our motorcycles. Who would do that? The man and woman who were in the gift shop when we checked in were very nice and friendly, but seemed to be bullied by the owners/managers when questioned about reducing our room rate. The housekeeping staff was very accomodating when we asked for another garbage sack to replace the ultra-small one in the kitchen, but she seemed to be looking over her shoulder the whole time expecting to get reprimanded.
The beds themselves were okay and while the kitchenette was fully stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc., it seems the cabins are mostly decorated with Dollar Store sale items. Cheesy and cheap and not in a good way. Although the location was majestic and quiet and right in the center of incredibly tall trees, I would not stay here again if you paid me. Spend some time staying at a bed and breakfast or a chain hotel somewhere else in this otherwise friendly county.
