This review is for the Ladera Ranch location, although it's hard to believe that there is much difference between their different locations.
With so many restaurants in Ladera Ranch closing their doors, you'd think that any new restaurant would try that much harder. Not Selma's. This is the third time we've tried their pizzas. The "Chicago" deep dish, isn't. It's a LOT of tasteless crust with minimal toppings and sauce. In Chicago, they'd be run out of town (where deep dish entails mountains of cheese and sauce on a sweet crust). The thin crust BBQ chicken pizza is anything but thin. It's basically a Pizza Hut regular crust that's also tasteless and kind of chewy (not what thin crust is supposed to be). I wanted mushrooms and ordered "double" because EVERY pizza chain is notorious for charging for added ingredients and failing to add them. Selma's was worse. I was encouraged to add "double" mushrooms by the gal taking my order and when I got the pizza there were exactly 4 slices of mushroom on the pizza. C'mon Selma's! An extra $3 for 4 slices of mushroom!?!? The cashier peered at the pizza, finger poised to dig around in the cheese looking for more, but asked if I'd like the kitchen to add more instead. She took the pizza to the back and emerged 5 minutes later with 10 more mushroom slivers. I asked to speak to a manager, but apparently the manager was on her break (at 6 p.m.).
I tried. $25 for a medium thin crust. Ridiculous. I give Selma's about a year and then it'll be the next nail salon in Ladera. What a pity.
