We just held a wedding here on May 16th and it was wonderful. We booked rooms in the 200 building which overlooks the golf course. We all had updated rooms. we took the suite on the second floor..we had a bedroom on each side of the living room which gave us tons of space for the family. The wedding was held on the knoll over looking the putting green and golf course...beautiful green grass, tons of lovely flowers surrounding the area. They transformed the rather plain ball room into a lovely venue with colored linens, chair covers and bows. Service was wonderful, they couldn't do enough for us. Louise Lambert, the director of wedding services was also our wedding coordinator..always there to help and gave us excellent advice. We had a buffet for the dinner reception..to our joy, it was fresh, hot and delicious...non of that freezer to the fryer dull food. Unlike many venues which have minimums, they do not, they don't dollar and dime you to death, it's all included in the price per person...and so many things were special touches, including giving the wedding couple the bridal suite for the wedding night. Both families used the pool before and after the wedding day. We spent the day after the wedding chatting, eating and enjoying our guests for hours on the wonder covered dining patio. Yes, there are fancier and more expensive venues in San Diego area, but I doubt they could beat Morgan Run for service and caring about our wedding.

I have family in the area and therefore I had stayed at Morgan Run in the past. However this latest visit really underscored their desperate need to update their accommodations.

I have been in La Quintas which were cleaner and more modern. The room (which I paid extra to upgrade to a "suite") was tiny, cluttered, dirty and generally run down. I have no idea how it could be characterized as a suite - sure, it included a mini-refrigerator and sink next to the bathroom, but I would have preferred that space been used to enlarge the bathroom.

The bathroom itself could barely fit one adult. It had a standard plastic molded tub, toilet with broken seat, and very dated countertop and sink. Even the toiletries were downscale.

Our "upgraded suite" with a balcony had a view of the parking lot, a shame since the property is on a beautiful golf course. I would have asked to move rooms but was with a disabled family member and the disruption was not worth it.

We ate breakfast at the resort's grill and it was among the most ordinary, greasy food I have ever had the privilege to pay high dollars for. With all the charming restaurants in the area, I would recommend you do not eat onsite.

The one bright spot of the property is the new health club and spa - those are lovely and state of the art. Just wish they would invest some cash in the sleeping rooms.

The biggest question is .... "What was I thinking". I saw this "Resort" a short while ago - while driving through Ranch Santa Fe. Unfortunately, I happened upon it while planning a short vacation on Expedia. This "Resort" need only be described as NASTY. It seems that this place is not so much a resort as much as it is a Country Club...with a few rooms next door to the clubhouse. The Clubhouse is nice enough - but by no means reflects the rooms which await vacationers. Incidentally, the Pool and fitness center were closed for renovations. In any event - the rooms are in three separate building in the Clubhouse parking lot. The three buildings look right out of the early seventies. The building I stayed in was "The Strafford", perhaps the worst of the three. I was surprised when I opened the door as the rooms are not at all what I saw on the Morgan Run web site. My room was dirty...for the entire stay. Sleeping on a bed with a condom wrapper under the bed...which did not belong to me... was disgusting to say the least. The carpet had a HUGE stain, I actually believe it may have been a blood stain. The furnishings were old and the dresser was broken. The dresser drawer actually fell out of the dresser - I was unable to put it back...the housekeeper left it on the floor for the three nights I stayed there...go figure. All in all - I feel that this place was dishonest with the pictures it puts on its web site. Perhaps, it should have considered investing in renovating the rooms.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Morgan Run in their suite for 3 nights in September 2008. We were in town for a wedding. The resort was very nice, the rooms had a basic, country club sophistication. Though not luxurious (and not as glamorous as the website suggests, with netting around the bed), the suite was comfortable and had 2 tvs, 2 full baths, 2 ironing boards and 2 balconies, a definite plus for a busy couple or family in town for an event. Service onsite was excellent, staff was accommodating. No complaints. Only minus was the rooms were in individual 2 story buildings were they had no elevators. So have a bellhop lug your bags!!! The person we were visiting out there was a member of the golf club, and we enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at the club. The food was excellent each time, on Sundays there is brunch and Thursdays, 10 items for $10 each. Not bad for 200 a night in very upscale Rancho Santa Fe, CA.....

My sister located the hotel on Hotels.com for a great price, it was near our brothers apartment and central to our plans for the trip. I reviewed the hotel on this site and was nervous as to what I would find, but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very clean, quiet and accomodating. My mother broke her foot the first day and the staff was very attentive to her needs. The food was excellent in both the hotel and room service. It was a little out of the way, off the highway, but there was beautiful scenery with the polo fields and golf course. The beach was a short drive away, we were about 20 minutes from La Jolla which is a gorgeous area and must see. We went to both Disneyland and Lego Land. I thought Disneyland was great, but next time will stay closer to the park. The park is very large, in order to see it all and enjoy the rides, more than one day is highly recommended. Lego Land was neat to walk thru 1 day is plenty for this park, be sure the kids are 10 or younger, this park caters to the younger and so there were only 3 rides that were exciting for me and my sister. The highlight of the trip for the kids was the beach! The weather was great, but the water was too cold for my tastes. The kids had a great time learning to boggie board with their uncle. George's restaraunt in La Jolla is an excellent eatery and is recommended for the romantic date.
