1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Sincerely disappointed with our stay here this weekend after having stayed here several times in the past. First off, we asked for a roll-away bed at check in and were assured it would arrive within 30 minutes. Three hours later it still had not arrived, so we called again, and they came with blankets and sheets. Got tired of waiting, so we had our daughter use the sleeper sofa, and she woke up with a terrible back ache. Then we reassured her she would have a fun day as she looked forward to the waterslides, and the waterslides were closed through December 31, which we had not been advised of. The hotel told us that we should have received an email from Hotwire letting us know they would be closed, but we were never told that from Hotwire. Lastly when our daughter forgot to use the shower curtain inside the shower, some water got on the bathroom floor. When we went to clean it up, the towel turned black from the dirt on the bathroom floor. It was filthy. Things seem to have gone down hill at this property from a service standpoint and a cleanliness standpoint. Its a shame.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

We stayed at the WMHR in the first week of December 2013. We had a group booking with 4 rooms and 8 people.

Rooms:
- Clean, adequately stocked & well looked after
- Good water pressure and hot showers
- Fridge was small but could fit milk, juice, beer adequately

Resort:
- 2 world class golf courses (Must play)
- Good pool/hot tub. games room was a lot of fun
- Resort is close to airport, Walgreens, Walmart etc.
- Food choices are limited and a little on the pricier side but good service/quality
- Room charges from the golf course, pro shop or anywhere in the resort

Staff
- Check-in staff were polite and made every effort & resolved minor issues that came up (we booked through a 3rd party consolidator)
- Security, Concierge, Room Service were all prompt and responsive

Issues:
- The golf course shuttle service - it should not be relied upon if you are tight on time, but they did pickup/drop off to our room/building.

Applause:
- Our package came with breakfast but because our tee times were at 7am and we had to leave early before the breakfast was available. The folks at Westin MHR made accommodations for us to receive room service instead delivered at 6:15am - this was a really nice concession and they deserve applause.
- We played twice/day using pre-booked replay through our package. Note in the first week of December it is dark at 4:30 but we were able to finish thanks to the pace of play and the pre-booked replay, the resort welcomes people to replay and deserves applause for that.
- 8 of us were charging stuff to 4 different rooms, right and left and every which way you could split a ticket and there were some minor issues but the front desk were happy to look into and resolve them promptly.

Overall:
- Strongly recommend for anyone wanting to stay & play centrally in Palm Springs area, be close to the airport and bigger box stores. If you have 4-8 people even better because they handle larger groups with ease.

Room Tip: The resort charges a $10 holding fee for any packages delivered to resort guests (i.e. Canadians sho...

I am writing this from our room at Westin Mission Hills on Sunday December 29. We stayed here a week ago for one night and had a pleasant stay. Tonight, not so much. We arrived at 2,hour prior to 3:00 check in and our room wasn't ready - we were told it was being cleaned and would be ready soon; that was fine. We went to the bar to wait...and wait and wait. Around 3:30 we checked - the room would be ready "in 45 minutes." We waited some more. And more. At 4:30: the room would be ready "in 20 minutes." Really? Finally, at 5 p.m. we were in. 3 hours' wait is way way too much.

Room seems fine but Cosmetic mirror listing to the left, missing a screw. Both recharging outlets on the buffet nonfunctional. A lack of other outlets in the room, so husband moved furniture to plug in.

A knock at the door - berries and dipping chocolate along with a bottle of inexpensive "champagne" arrived...an apology from the management? Who knows. There was no card. All very well and good, but husband doesn't drink champagne. And I've been sober for 22+ years. I'd rather have had our room ready on time.

Went to the bar for light supper. A full FIFTEEN MINUTES after sitting down and being ignored by multiple servers, one of the servers finally noticed us. We were in the middle of the room - hard to miss. Things went downhill from there. I ordered decaf coffee. "We don't have coffee. We have espresso." the server said. "I know," I said. "I was here this afternoon. I'd like a decaf Americano with cream." This confused her and we went around and around awhile. Finally she confirmed that I wanted an Americano, decaffeinated, "with cream on the side." When it came, I asked if it was really espresso, as it was like water it was so thin. I commented at the Americano I'd had in the afternoon had had a nice crema on top and had been much darker..."We don't have whipped cream," the server said. I tried to explain but gave up. The "cream on the side" was in a little espresso cup, not a creamer, so it made a big mess when I tried to pour it into the "coffee."

Dinner. Ordered beef short rib with a salad on the side. Salad didn't arrive. Husband order a burger with fries. Fries didn't arrive. Couldn't find our server so we flagged down another server and eventually got both. Never did see the original server until the very end of the meal when she tried to chat but was so bizarre a conversationalist and we were so sick of her subpar service and strange attitude that we cut things short.

Now we are back in the room, getting ready to go to sleep. Hoping the bed isn't too awful but given the previous several hours, I'm not optimistic.

My family spent a week at this resort. Part of the group loved the golf, the rest enjoyed the pool and the service around the pool. The hotel is spread out, but they have several pools, and place to sit and relax around the resort. We all enjoyed the restaurant.

No extra charge for pets and a wonderful property with many walkways for you to take your dog on. The service is top notch and if you want to stay put, their dining options and food is not that bad. I would definitely come here again if I come with my dogs.

Room Tip: Try to get a room either in the 100 or 600, these are right next too the main building.

Pros:
Close to the 10
Well-sized room

Cons:
1) No heat in winter. It was about 40 degrees at night. We had our thermostat set at 80. The AC was blowing hard. We froze all night. If you come here, prepare to freeze ....

2) Unresponsive staff. At check-in there was nobody staffed at the front desk. We stood around waiting for a staff member to show up for 15 min or so. Two different concierges were twiddling their thumbs. Not a great welcome. Where are the staff? Simple issues required multiple phone calls and were never really resolved. They said shoe shining was complimentary but the guy showed up at our room and demanded $7.00. You pay a $30 resort fee, seemingly for nothing. The pool was not as nice as those you find at a motel 6. The internet was slow. The sink was partially clogged, very slow to drain.

3) Adult pool looks like pool from a motel-6. And it therefore not relaxing. 100 times worse than the hyatt, the esmeralda, etc. Few palm trees, second rate landscaping. This is not a resort!

4) Giant property near a strip mall with fast food, etc: Be prepared to walk around a ton. If you want decent food, be prepared to drive because the hotel restaurant is lousy and the hotel is in the middle of nowhere.

5. Rooms are dark, little light.

6. Showers are small and cramped in a bathtub.

Bottom line: Stay here for a night if you need to stop during a long drive. Avoid if you're on vacation.

We went for a couple of days. This is a very nice, high end hotel. The rooms were quite big and the grounds beautiful and spacious. Since it is a spa hotel, it's not the greatest place for small kids, but they do have a kids art & play center (at an additional fee) and a large pool with a nice built-into-the-rocks water slide. As I said, it's real nice, not inexpensive by any means, but I would absolutely stay there again.

Room Tip: The hotel consists of a number of small two-story buildings each with multiple units (no elevators...
