We had a great time with our Rancho Mirage selection. Lots of local color, festive, good service and good food. Prices right. There is a main dining room and a Garden Room - both lovely.

“Still Very Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

I don't think I'd been here for at least a decade, so was happy to entertain 3 friends here.
The four of us were seated in a side room which I actually prefer to the main dining room because the side room is quieter and just as comfortable.
Service was cordial and the food was excellent. I had salmon which was prepared very well.
It's gratifying to return to a restaurant after many years and note that high standards for food and service continue as in the past.

“Never fails to deliver.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

From the moment Ginger welcomes like her long lost family through to the perfect Margarittas and then on to the well priced and nicely prepared food- you will not be disappointed. Shame on the Moon has a well tried and excellent formula. A small but delicious menu that is sufficient to satisfy most and attentive but not overpowering service in a great lounge ( in the truest American sense). This is a terrific place that absolutely deserves it's ongoing success.

“Romantic restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

Very romantic little place. Make sure you ask for the garden room not the main dining room as it's much nicer.
Good price. 3 course meal is 20 bucks. Four course is 30.
Food is tasty. But drinks very expensive.

“Shame is almost right”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

We were in town for a long weekend and met up with friends that were staying in Rancho Mirage. This restaurant came highly recommended. The decor is dated, and the noise level was loud not due to a fun vibe but for all the old (old) guard trying to talk loud enough for their dinner companions to hear them. The service was strange to say the least. Our waiter was distracted and there may have been other issues in the kitchen or dining room but it was noticable. One reached across my left, over my plate to my water glass on my right to refill it and I got a face full of his arm. Orders came to the table with missing components.. (chicken on pasta, etc). I will say that the food was good but I liken it to high quality banquet food vs. high quality restaurant food. I want to see classic restaurants survive and carry one.. but Shame On the Moon needs to hit the "refresh" button otherwise they may be Gone with the wind.
