“BBQ in Rancho Mirage ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

Six of us went here for lunch. We all ordered different dishes and drinks. All portions were generous and looked good. Our choices included several selections of ribs, chicken, side dishes, and salads. The beers were good and ranged from fruity Belgian ales to dark, heavy porters. The service was good, the staff were friendly and attentive. It is not cheap, but nothing in Rancho Mirage is, for six people the bill was $165.

“Great place to eat...but service left us disapointed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

My family had a wonderful meal there. We ordered the corn bread (really wish it came with honey butter), pulled chicken sandwich, sirloin tip sandwich, combo meal and the roasted chicken....all were great. A must to get is the sweet potato fries, which were our favorites. We especially enjoyed the sorbet at the end of the meal...a nice sweet treat!

Our service, however, was terrible. We accidently spilt sauce on the table, asked the staff to help us clean it up. Instead of wiping it up with a wet rag, our waiter dropped napkins off for us to clean the table. Really? Took forever to get the plates cleared and even longer to get the bill.

We would probably go back, but would avoid the waiter we had.

“Another Great Surprise! (mostly good, a little not-so)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

the good: "The Pig Place" as my family calls this, has been a regular dinner spot for us and we always love it. The BBQ babybacks are a favorite. This trip we went for lunch. Turns out they make great salads. Mine was pulled pork with a touch of that great BBQ sauce over simple, properly torn Romaine with a dressing on the side (without me asking - Yeah!) and the surprise of a little cornbread served with it. Others at our table tried the P'boy (shrimp got a thumbs up) and a mixed BBQ plate with sides (except for the chicken this got a thumbs up.) I ordered the seasonal dark ale and loved it. As we were about to leave on a roadtrip we thought we'd like a taste of the pig to go. Turns out easily accomplished so 3 days later I polished off the last of the slaw and babybacks. They were great on a roadtrip and traveled well on ice. Will repeat that!
Tried the patio and found it quite nice.
The not so good: Odd hospitality at the reception area. We were there just before noon and noticed lots of space on the patio so we asked if we could sit there. We were told we'd have to wait 15 min or so. We queried this and were told they needed to clean tables and catch up before they seated anyone else. So, we stepped back to wait. The people immediately behind us were told they could sit on the patio if they were okay with high tables and stools. Huh? So they can eat there now and we have to wait. We stepped back to the podium to discuss what was clearly some other issue (as in, the kind that needs some Managerial attention) and were told we could eat outside now but all they had were high tables. We went out with the hostess and when we noticed several clean (regular) tables not taken, we asked to be seated at one of them. We were. So were the others who were told they had to sit at high tables on stools. Have no idea what this was about.

“Great Brewery Selection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

Pulled pork and half-rack of ribs were good, cornbread was too cakelike for our taste. Server was excellent, and you can't beat their award winning craft brews.
