Four of us choose Alberto's for the first time after noticing the always crowded parking lot and craving a "new" (for us) Italian place. What a wonderful surprise! An intimate wood-paneled dining room, brass lighting fixtures and soft prints of the Italian countryside make for a lovely setting. Many guests seemed to be regulars and it made for a festive atmosphere. The valet who parked the car, the Hostess, to the very professional waitstaff made for a welcoming experience. And the food...superb! The salad with red pepper, tomato and anchovy was terrific as a starter-cold, refreshing and very tasty. The homemade pasta recommended by the waiter, especially the ravioli, gnocchi and canneloni and the sauces-many choices (pesto, marinara, meat) were deeply layered flavors that you never got tired of eating. Veal (vitello) is served many ways and the Milanese we ordered was a HUGE chop, pounded flat, and crisply sauteed. Perfect! We shared tiramisu, not my favorite dessert, but this was also delicious. Sufficient wine list, with a few American but mainly Italian wines. With a bottle of wine the bill came to $187 before tip-well worth this perfect experience. We will return! (not open for lunch).
