Our group was looking for a casino to try our luck at the gaming tables and Agua Caliente was the closest option. Our first impressions was quite positive - the valet service was quick and the casino was clean and looked almost new. There are many options for those who want table games - roulette, blackjack, craps, Spanish 21, Let it Ride and three card poker - together with an endless supply of slot machines. Table stakes were modest - on a Tuesday night you could play blackjack for a minimum $10/hand bet but most tables were $15 and higher. The quirky California laws that don't allow dice in any game takes getting used to at the craps and roulette tables.
However, our experience was spoiled by the ever present cigarette smoke. There weren't any no smoking tables which made things most unpleasant when several smokers lit up. We were most surprised that smoking was even allowed - it's almost impossible to find any other public space in the state where it is permitted.
