My family and I stayed at the Hotel Sierra for 4 days while visiting our Grandpa in nearby Citrus Heights. The rooms were very nicely decorated and there was plenty of room for the 3 people we had in each room (we all had queen/queen suites with separate living areas). The cooked-to-order breakfast each morning was very yummy and the coffee drinkers in our group really enjoyed the fact that they served Starbucks coffee.

The pool area was also bigger and much nicer than your typical motel. It was surrounded some palm trees and there lots of places to eat, lay out or just hang out by the pool (high top and regular tables with umbrellas plus lounging chairs covered by cabana-type tents). The pool was very crowded on Saturday but nice and relaxing the rest of the days we stayed.

We were also pleased with the hotel's bar/restaurant. The service was good (even on Saturday night when the server was slammed) and the food was good and very reasonably priced. I used the fitness center a couple of times and was impressed at how large it was compared to most places I've stayed. They even had cool wet towels for your post work-out cool down.

If we are ever in the Rancho Cordova area again, we will definitely return to the Hotel Sierra!

Tired from traveling, picking up rental car, and hauling around my work supplies, all I wanted to do was check into my nice hotel and relax. I arrived and the one person who was working the front desk was on the phone and would not even acknowledge that I was standing there until he was done with his long phone call.
The next day I went to the front desk again to get a new key and this time there was two people working the front desk. I stood there again and waited for the lady to finish doing her phone reservation to even acknowledge me. The other person apparently couldn't help me because he was counting his cash drawer.
Needless to say dealing with the front desk was very annoying.
The rooms were okay but not worth the price.
The free breakfast was awesome with many options.
Parking was free.
Location was great for working in Folsom and Rancho Cordova.
Pool area was very nice.
If the service was better I would consider returning but as of now I will be shopping other options for the next trip out.

My Husband and our two boys ages 4 and 15months stayed for two nights and we had a great stay. The rooms were clean and had a nice decor. Breakfast in the morning was made to order and the reception in the evening made it a great way to unwind for the night. Spend the extra couple of dollars and get the room with the patio to the pool, it was great for the kids. The Hotel in centrally located near the freeway and 20 minutes from downtown. We will definitely return when visiting the area.

I can't say it is a terrible place to stay .... but that is about all.

When I booked the reservation with the hotel, I was told they had a shuttle. What I was not told was that their "shuttle" was a van service from the airport that cost $38.00 to be transported to the hotel.

The hotel is in desperate need of renovation. The carpet is old, the hallway ceilings were watermarked, there was a stale odor I noticed when walking down the hallway to my room. I can't say it was dirty, just old .... as in (early) 1980's motif.

On the positive side, the desk staff was pleasant and the breakfast was served quickly and was quite good.

Too expensive, too old and hedging the truth about the shuttle service ..... I will not be back ..... ever.
