The Feather Bed has a great location. It is on a quiet street with very short walks to some restaurants and the main street. We went there for the Fall colors and the courthouse trees right across the street were fantastic.
The house could use some care, but overall is comfortable. Parking was great.
They don't have a lot of bric a brac jamming the lobby. There are some comfortable sofas and chairs. There is a small TV with some movies. They also have a few books and lots of tour guides. They have tea and coffee along with popcorn available. Also they have homemade fudge and store bought cookies available at any time.
One thing I did like was the antique map chest where they could give you copies of maps or restaurant guides. They claimed ot have internet access, but I did not test that.
Our room was called the Morning Room and had a slanted ceiling. Entry to our room was from the outside and up a flight and a half of wooden stairs. The bed was fairly comfortable but the room and bathroom were cramped. There was a door to a deck on the roof that had some plastic furntiure.
The shower was over the bathtub and was very, very small. Amenities were basic, small soaps, shampoo. Towels were fair, not real plush.
Had an antique amoire as a closet. The room was fairly clean, but tired. It needed lots of updating, paint, carpet, decor.
Breakfast was not very good the day we tried it. The 'smoothie' was way too sweet, the house smoked sausage was rather bland, the quiche and coffee cake were blah too. After a few bites, we skipped over to a coffee shop and had some pancakes and eggs.
