“Warmth, Character, Excellent Guest Service -- Top Notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

I am an international businessman accustomed to major hotel chains where the atmosphere is somewhat sanitized due to the numbers of guests who come and go and large staffs to maintain the premises. I am always anxious to leave and return to the comfort of my home in the US. This is my second stay at the Bull Inn at Barton Mills; a business trip to Mildenhall for two weeks. I have a demanding daily schedule and returning to the Bull Inn was a welcome relief as its warmth, character, and guest service provided me the closest feel to home that I have experienced in my travels. It was a pleasure to return to the Inn at night and on weekends to actually rest comfortably. The owners are hands-on who set the example for the staff and ensure the highest standards of guest service are maintained. The owners and staff are friendly, courteous, personable, well mannered and responsive. The atmosphere is very charming and homey. The food is fresh and well prepared with a diverse menu with changing specials. For those with interest in a pub, there is a very welcoming one at the Inn, in addition to its fine restaurant. In nice weather there is a courtyard where meals and drinks may be had. My rooms have been comfortable and well kept. I look forward to future stays. It is well worth a try if you are in the area and are looking for some 16th century character and owners/proprietors and staff who care about you and your stay.

We picked The Bull Inn from the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, which rarely lets us down. With the prospect of a 3-course dinner booked at our overnight stay we only wanted a snack. We chose the doorstep sandwiches (1" thick bread - bacon and brie on wholegrain and chicken caesar on white bloomer) and drank Lupus Lupus from the Wolf Brewery. Thoroughly enjoyable, we'll revisit if we find ourselves in the vicinity again.

I booked this on the dinner, bed and breakfast offer which is in a house double room. There were a few problems with the room, when I told reception we were upgraded to a feature room which was lovely - we were in the Daisy Room. This was a lovely room and very quirky, I don't normally sleep well in hotel beds but I slept like a baby - the bed was exceptionally comfortable.

The dinner and breakfast were both of a high standard and I did not find the prices expensive - you get what you pay for.

The only downside to the hotel is that the decorating doesn't seem to be finished properly, the décor of the bathroom in the Daisy Room is of a high standard but it hasn't been finished properly (the windows have got all smudged black paint on them and need re-painting). I found this in our initial room as well - the small details need to be addressed as they let the rooms down.

I would stay here again if in the area but probably wouldn't pay the full price for a feature room (which do not appear to be included in any special deals). The price for the DB & B basis is a good deal and perhaps should be extended to include feature rooms.

Very friendly and helpful staff, the bar kept a good cellar and they made great cocktails. The food was excellent, and the décor throughout the Inn is fun and quirky. Happy to recommend the Inn, and we will be staying there next time we return to that part of the world.

A bit late getting this review up but here goes. We stayed here as we were visiting the 1000 guineas race meeting, We booked a feature room which was called the Princess room and I have to say was really funky and trendy with a great double sized bath with a headrest which was very relaxing. Loved the décor which was all cerise pink and black very girlie not sure my husband like it as much as me though! After the races we returned to the hotel and decided to eat in the pub rather than the resturaunt and I have to say the food was amazing compliments to the chefs! Breakfast the next morning was also very tasty, and as we had booked the late check out we chilled out in the courtyard in the sunshine before we headed off home. In fact we loved it so much we will be returning again next year thank you for making our stay so welcoming everyone was so friendly. Also must add one more thing alongside the hairdyer were straightners what a brilliant idea well done!

we stayed at the bull inn for one night, the room was lovely, very uniquely decorated.
The food is of a very high standard, although a little on the pricey side, you get what u pay for.
It was a treat for my husbands birthday, and they had wrapped the bed with a big bow and sprinkled love heart confeffi over the duvet. Little touches like this make all the difference, and we enjoyed our stay with them.
All the staff seemed very friendly and what a good job they are all doing, as this hotel is lovely and worth a visit.

I had booked for a sunday lunch with my nan so wanted something a little special. We were seated promptly in the restaurant with drinks, and left to choose from the menu. We both went for a roast chicken lunch which came with homemade yorkies and stuffing and some yummy roast potatoes. It also came with a delicious bowl of mixed veg. We went for creme brulee and toffee pudding to finish, both very tasty! Our waitress did a lovely job of looking after us.
We will definitely be back again for lunch soon and highly recommend the toffee pudding. Nan was also impressed by the milk bottle chandeliers and cow print wallpaper.
