“What a hostel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2007

This hostel is in an incredible location. Some bicycle out there. It is great for large groups. Some might find it hard to get there without a car. It is a bit far from town. YOu can see very single star in teh universe when there are no clouds..watch out..during summer there is fog on a regular basis. I have gone there many times over the course of a ten-year period and have found it to be magical every time. It's a very practical hostel and a great value for the area.

  • Liked — What a deal for the location..and a great kitchen.
  • Disliked — closes at 10am..but that is typical for hostels

You can't beat the location of this hostel, right in the middle of Pt. Reyes National Park. Once you park your car, there is no need to move it til you leave....fabulous hiking starts right outside the hostel doors. The cost is amazingly low for this area. The public rooms are warm and cozy. But the women's dorm situation needs alot of improvement...at least 12-14 beds were crammed into a tiny room (should have had 8 beds max) which made it very tough to move around in, as well as incredibly stuffy at night. Had a hard time sleeping with the constant snoring and lack of air. The toilets had flimsy shower curtains for doors, which ended around my knees! Also the showers were cheek by jowl to the toilets, leaving no privacy for anyone. Guests from the family rooms traipsed through at all hours to use the bathroom. My advice would be to stay here only at non-peak times.
