“My favorite place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

I love this park and go back to visit whenever I can. There are several great hiking trails and beaches. The lighthouse is also a great place. As other's note, there are a lot of stairs leading to the lighthouse. Just take it slow.

“A must see in Northern California”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

If driving on Highway 1 in Northern California, Poynt Reyes is a must visit. The lighthouse also has its own story and the views, whether with the fog or without, stay with the visitor forever.

Do not miss the oyster farms on the way, as well as the creameries (artisanal local cheese is made in the vicinity).

“The drive to the lighthouse is over 20 miles. It is an interesting place to visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

The bathrooms are better on the way to the lighthouse than they are in the parking lot, if you are lucky enough to get a parking spot like we were. It is fun to watch everyone who is starting out and returning. It is really not that bad. Take it slow and let the people in a hurry pass you on the stairs and you will be fine. I am over 55 and my husband is over 60 and we did it. Our daughter did it twice!

“the seashore has many vistas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

we travelled along the southernmost part of the shore with sculptured cliffs and northern views, all the way up to Mclure beach on Tomales Bay, with breathtaking western and southern views. We saw deer, elk, horses and relatively few people - loved the solitude.

“Would go back in a heart beat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

This jewel of a place is absolutely amazing. If you love nature this is definitely a place to visit. Allow yourself enough time because there are plenty of hikes to take and you will want to soak in the experience. The lighthouse is a must. Be prepared to descend 308 steps...and then come back...308 steps. The view is magnificent. We even saw a couple of whales. Make sure you take some time to do the hike to see the tule elk preserve. Again, magnificent views and the reward of seen the elks. There are several places to stay inside the park. If you are traveling with children make sure you ask if children are allowed while you shop for lodging. There are a couple of grocery stores. Be prepared for high prices. Surprisingly, though, they had quite a bit of vegan items. There is a deli in one of the grocery stores that is pretty good. Awesome burritos! The Tomales Bay gives more beauty to Point Reyes. Kayaking and Paddle Board rentals are available. Point Reyes is peaceful and truly amazing. You won't want to leave.
