5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2010

We stayed one night with Rita and Stephanie who made us feel right at home and like we were family. The place has lots of charm and a scrumptious breakfast! We would highly recommending staying here if you are in the area.

I stayed a pleasant 5 nights at the Albert Shafsky House. The staff is very helpful and I felt a part of the neighborhood. Each morning a different delicious healthy breakfast was served. I particularly liked their use of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Freshly brewed coffee is available at any time.
The rooms reminded me of a lovely B and B that I stayed at in York, England although with a definite American Victorian variation. The interior decoration is very creative and evokes the ambiance of a historic gold rush experience. The bed was comfortable and I got a good nights rest. Especially nice is the short walk to the downtown area and its plethora of restaurants.

We Looked online and found thid charming and comfortable B&B, I love the rooms especially Alberta's Attic. The decore of the whole house is just a mind blower. There is so much detail everywhere you look. The room we chose had a sitting room, with comfortable wingback recliners and after a fun day of exploring its was such a comfort to come back too. The owners Rita and Steph were excellent hostesses, I felt like they were opening up their home. They gave us dinner suggestions. Now the extra special treat was Rita's breakfast, wow they were delicious. She is a superb cook. She puts out coffee and hot water early for those in need and then breakfast at 9. We had a fruit cup, muffin and OJ followed by one morning a veggie frtatta with sausage. The frittata was cooked to perfection and I loved it. Really should have gotten the recipe. the next morning it was french toast made with a crossiant, delicious. This B&B is easy to find and nicely located. We had no trouble with parking which they have either in back or in front of the house, which was nice. Easy access to the main road and downtown Placerville and the surrounding area.
We would highly reccomend The Albert Shafsky House with owners Rita and Steph, they will make the stay there memorable.

We stayed in the spacious Lighthouse room, on the 2nd floor of this charming B&B. Our room was filled with darling antiques and collectibles. Rita, one of the owners, was friendly and helpful, and an excellent cook, to boot! This B&B is a 5-min. walk from downtown Placerville, a quaint town with great shopping, great food, and great customer service. My daughter and I had a lovely mother-daughter weekend here, and highly recommend this B&B to others!

They accomodated our late arrival, recommended a perfect restaurant and made the reservations, and served a great breakfast.

Beautifully restored home steeped in history, short walk over a foot bridge to Old Town, comfortable rooms that take you back to yesteryear, but mostly hosts that instantly make you feel like long-time friends. Add entertainment by a darling dashund named Lilly, a fantastic gourmet breakfast the next morning, interesting/friendly other guests, and you know you have picked the perfect b&b.
