“Not worth the money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

This property is at best a two star motel. Walls are thin - you can hear everything from other rooms next to you plus what's going on outside. If you have a need for an extra bed - they charge you $10 a night extra and it's a blow up mattress that you have to blow up yourself and put the sheets down too. No A/C, so when it got a little hot, you are stuck. Bed itself is pretty comfortable and the room does not seem dirty. Overall it would have been OK if they charged half of what they did.

We are disappointed that your stay was not more enjoyable. Hopefully during your next visit to Pismo Beach you can enjoy our beautiful remodeled ocean view garden and spectacular restaurant deck. We look forward to being your hospitality provider again here in Pismo Beach.

We spent three days here and will definitely return. The king room was comfortable and clean, and the view is spectacular! Plus, they are dog-friendly -- we have two large dogs. We enjoyed the ocean view, first floor patio, and well-maintained grounds. There's also a good restaurant. The staff are friendly. Amenities include a fireplace and a small refrigerator in the room.

Well, Maggie was a dream, the entire time; riding in the car for five hours each way, in the room, no barking, no messes, just a Sweetheart. Even at meals that we took at the Spyglass Inn Restaurant, on an outdoor balcony, she sat or lay quietly, no ruckus at all. The other very pleasant surprise, the bed, the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in away from home. I made the mistake of specifying a "handicap friendly room" so we did not get one of the rooms we always have before, overlooking the Ocean. We were there at the beginning of October, simultaneously with a heat wave and our room had no A/C. A fan made it somewhat comfortable though. We will go back next March (our thirty-first) Wedding Anniversary as we normally do but missed this year.

Room Tip: Get a room on the West side, the view is the Sea and you can step out through the sliding glass door...

We enjoyed our stay at Spyglass. The ocean view (second floor) was very nice; we sat on the 5'x10' balcony (2 chairs and a small table) and watched the sun set. The staff members we encountered were friendly and efficient. Beach access is along the cliff top sidewalk past the two neighboring hotels and then down a stairs.

The room was nice with a small refrigerator, table (desk sized) with two chairs. There was a granite counter with sink outside the bathroom. Bathrobes are in the room. Breakfast is not included, but their restaurant has a 2 egg, 2 pancake and 2 strips of bacon available for $5.95 per person -- we didn't eat there, so I cannot comment on this. The pool is small but OK with a hottub (in the middle of the complex, so no views from the pool).

$143 for an oceanfront room was a good value.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms have balconies upstairs and patios downstairs. Upstairs probably have a nicer view...

We have stayed at the Spyglass Inn for several years now starting around 2007 because the location is on the central coast with ocean views, nice landscaping and walkways linked to steps to the beach. And foremost because it is pet friendly. The rooms we stay in have lovely amenities, fireplace, ocean view and our little dog Tippy enjoyed it as much as we did. We have videos of her romping along the walkways along the bluff watching birds and whales. We liked the fact that the Spyglass Inn has a restaurant on the property so that we could enjoy takeout on the patio and watch the sunset. In addition there are lots of choices for cafes and restaurants in and around the SLO area. The service is always with a smile, the rooms are clean and we always leave with plans to return as soon as we can. Sunny & Larry

Great place to stay, front desk was very friendly, I have stayed at the Spyglass Inn several times and plan on coming back. The rooms are always clean and the walk way offers great views. Easy access to the beach which is a great place to relax after a long day of work.

We have stayed at this hotel for several years finding it a hidden gem on the ocean. It had become quite tired and in need of repairs. I am happy to say that our last stay was incredibly pleasant. New balconies, new landscaping beachfront and they have replaced shower stalls and were working on the decks of the restaurant. Didn't eat at the restaurant but there were more people than usual. More attention overall to the state of the property and the same friendly helpful staff. Earlier this year I dropped my camera while packing my car, not realizing I had lost it. The staff located it and mailed it back to me immediately. It was awesome!
