“Great Place to Stay in Pismo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2010

I have stayed at the Seacrest on two occassions for business. It is a great hotel in a great location with reasonable prices for the area. The hotel is shaped like an H, with the middle section consisting of two floors of rooms that face the ocean, and the sides are what they refer to as the "towers" - which are four floors high. I have stayed in the middle (ocean view) room and also a tower room. I am a very light sleeper and tend to hear any little noise, so I preferred the tower room as it seemed to be newer and quieter than the ocean view. During one of my stays I needed a conference room on very short notice and the staff cheerfully hustled to meet my request.

The location on the Pismo Beach cliffs is fabulous. I also like the fact that Marie Callenders restaurant is located across the parking lot. You can order room service from Marie Callenders. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. I have stayed at two other hotels on the Pismo Beach cliffs and I prefer the Seacrest. I will definitely stay there again.

Receptionists were wonderful, we had checked in for wrong night - was not an issue...even got an upgrade to seaview room. Also we were going to San Fran the day after - they advised us what to do when there too. View was out of this world. Right on breach and 10 mins walk to the Pier along the beach. Rooms were spectacular...
Pierside Bar was gorgeous for food - went for lunch and dinner!! - cocktails were great too!
Would say Pismo is more of a stopover place - not more than 2 nights unless of course you are surfing!

We had a great one-night stay at the Seacrest during our drive from San Francisco to LA. It's located on the seafront, but also very close to the main highway (though you won't be disturbed by traffic noise). We found it (albeit with the GPS!) within a few minutes of exiting the highway.

We were greeted very warmly at reception and given the keycard for our room. (The outdoor stairs are the only way to access the second floor rooms, so if you have poor mobility you'll need a ground floor room.)

From the outside the hotel looks pretty unremarkable, but inside the room was fantastic. It must have been renovated fairly recently because everything was very bright, warm, clean and fresh looking. The room was a good size, and included a "breakfast bar" area, microwave and fridge, coffee maker, large bathroom, and an outside balcony. Look at my photos for a better idea of the layout etc.

The hotel is in a great spot overlooking the sea, and has steps leading down to Pismo Beach itself. You can walk along the beach towards the pier area if you wish. There are three hot-tubs and a swimming pool, as well as a large grass area for the kids to run about on. There were lots of families with children using the grass and pool areas, but it didn't seem too overcrowded.

We made use of the hot tub, and it's highly recommended!

There's no room service but the hotel does offer a delivery service from local restaurants; in the end we just went out for food, though you could easily have enjoyed a nice meal in your room. The reception staff gave us a map of the local area, though as we were only staying one night we didn't venture very far from the hotel.

In the morning we were delighted to find the hotel has a free buffet breakfast for all guests! They had a great selection of pastries, muffins, yoghurt, coffee etc, and you can eat it all sitting at one of their tables out in the garden area. This was a great way to start the day.

Overall I'd highly recommend the Seacrest if you're visiting the San Luis Obispo area. We're not really seaside or beach lovers and we still really liked this place; if you like lying on a beach all day this is probably the place for you! The rooms are well appointed, there's a reasonable amount of things to do, and the free breakfast is the icing on the cake.

The management and staff of the SeaCrest Resort are delighted that you enjoyed your recent weekend with us so much and took the time and effort of saying so on Trip Advisor.

We could not have said it better ourselves! In fact, we want to frame your review.

Your experience is exactly what we intended it to be when we completely renovated the SeaCrest last year. Our accommodations, amenities, service and staff have all been upgraded to meet our exacting standards.

May we offer a clarification to your comment regarding access to the second floor rooms. Your room is in the center building, with rooms overlooking the pool and Ocean. It is true that access to the second floor---in this building alone-- is by stairs only. However, the hotel also has two adjacent four story buildings, each with elevator service and rooms with spectacular ocean views as well, allowing easy access to all floors to any guests requiring such service.

We look forward very much to your next visit and are prepared to serve you in the same excellent manner.

We stayed at the SeaCrest resort on our trip down the PCH. When you pull into the car park it doesn't look like much. Reception staff were really helpful and we checked in quickly.

We have sea views on the 3rd floor. Whilst I was a little disappointed the rooms were not full on sea views, more partial sea views, the weather was awful when we arrived and you couldn't see the beach let alone the sea!

Rooms were of a good size, a really well decorated, nice large screen TV's and a great balcony area. Great direct access to the beach but beware access late in the afternoon as when the sea comes access to the steps can be awkward!

We had dinner at Steamers for a friend's birthday - great food and only a couple of blocks away. Friendly staff and great cocktails!!

I often travel with my husband on his business trips and if he is ever within a 2 hour drive of this resort this is where we stay. We have been here on 3 seperate trips in the past 6 weeks and will come back as soon as we can. My children and I are often the only ones in the pool that overlooks the ocean, once the pool fills up with other guests we pack up and walk down the stairs to the ocean. The hotel has its own stair access, other nearby hotel guest walk to use them. Coffee bar open all day, cookies for the kiddos in the afternoon. Currently my favorite place to stay on the California coast.

This hotel is the best we had during our Californian vacation. It's 3 stars but correctly priced. We only chose a 'corner' view of the sea but the small balcony was very enjoyable. The room was very spacious with all amenities. We wish we had stayed longer (we stayed only one night). The SeaCrest is highly recommendable.

I have been staying at this hotel for over a year whenever my work brings me to the area and every time i am personally greeted like a VIP. The level of customer service is great, locale is ideal, the rooms are elegant and the ameneties of the property really make this feel like a 5-star resort. I have stayed at many over-priced hotels and the Seacrest is hands-down the best value in Pismo Beach with the scenery of over-priced Dolphin-Bay or Lighthouse suites.
