What a great place to stay, even if you have a pet. The rooms all have hardwood floors and their is a living room area with tv, wet bar, and fridge. The bedroom has a door separating the living room, so you can rest while someone wants to play on their laptop - wireless hook up is GREAT! Television in the bedroom area too. Tub leaked out water while bathing, but nothing too bad. They have a private dog area if you want to let your pet off it's leash, very green and trees all around too. The hotel has a small but very well equipped gym. They offer their guests a great breakfast each morning, and they have a small happy hour type of gathering in their bar area where they offer wine, beer, and sodas with lite eats. We stayed here twice while on our vacation and will return again...excellent comfort, clean rooms, comfy bed, excellent staff, and quiet.

Stayed overnight on our driving journey from SF to LA. Rooms were very comfortable and done in a pleasant contemporary decor. Evening reception, breakfast buffet, and pool are great/convenient amenities when you just want to recharge the batteries before getting back on the road the following day. Staff is courteous and helpful with restaurant recommendations/local sights. A great value at AAA price of $119 for king bed/suite.

Stayed one night, after reading the reviews here. My husband and I were very pleased with the accomodations. The exterior is on the older side but inside the amenities are current. Close to downtown and we would stay again.

We just returned from a four night stay at this hotel. This hotel is great for families as all the rooms are two room suites. The living room has a pull out sofa, wet bar, fridge and microwave and a small table and two chairs and a TV. There is also a TV in the bedroom area. The extra room is so nice when you have kids and have to bring lots of stuff with you! We have a one year old and a four year old. Our four year old thought it was fun to sleep in the "special bed" which was the pull out sofa.

The pool area is pretty nice with tables, chairs and loungers. The pool is heated and there is also a small wading pool for the little ones.

The hotel has a full breakfast in the mornings which consisted of eggs, hashbrowns, sausage and pancakes. They also have a selection of cereals, toast and bagels, juice, milk and coffee. The food was pretty decent and we ate here 3 times out of our 4 day stay. It is very handy to get up, get everybody ready and then just walk over to the breakfast room and fill up before heading out for the day.

The property is not beachfront but it is only a five minute drive to the beach from this hotel.

We originally started staying at this hotel a few years ago because they allow dogs. Now that we have children, we stay here because of the two room suites, the pool area, and the breakfast.

It really is a great place for families and you definetly see lots of families with kids here.

We have stayed here off and on for the past several years. Because we travel with a pet, this has been our default property. Even before the remodel, we were pleased with the staff, amenities and the pet-friendly lay-out. It is even better now with the remodel. The rooms are clean (great idea doing a non-carpet floor), the staff extremely helpful, rates are reasonable and the breakfast is certainly adequate. We've never participated in the evening reception so can't comment on that.

I was a little apprehensive booking here because of a very few unfavorable reviews located elsewhere. Especially so, since my wife is extremely picky when it comes to cleanliness. However, we both agreed that this place was great! The suite we had was very clean, the pool & breakfast area, was spotless and so was the lounge where the evening reception is held (Great munchies!)
I think even more important was the friendliness of staff, without exception - everyone we talked to was very friendly. This is a GREAT kids-friendly hotel. We had two with us and they had a fantastic time in the pool. By the way, the Wireless internet connection worked great in our suite and we were located at the far end of the property. We WILL stay here again!

I am actually from this area but when I moved out-of-state and came back for a visit, my family suggested Oxford. I must say, I was a bit underwhelmed with the exterior lobby/courtyard and pool area but the staff proved themselves courteous and helpful. But it was the recent room renovation that compelled me to give my recommendation! Furniture, carpeting, draperies, and bedspreads were all new - even hardwood flooring in the foyer. The bathroom was clean and all hardware (sink/bathtub) were in good working order. Overall, my husband (who has several years experience in the hospitality field) and I felt safe and very comfortable at this location.

Note that we did not eat breakfast on site, nor did we use their pool. But for visitors who intend on seeing the sites and not lounging around the motel, this is your place. (As a former local, I suggest Sycamore Mineral Springs in Avila Beach or Apple Farm in SLO for those purposes).
