Stayed here one night as our family of three enjoyed a trip down Highway 1 from San Francisco to Southern CA. Pismo Beach was one of our planned stops, so we had reserved a room for one night. The Best Western website would not allow us to book a room with a King Bed with three people, but I called in and inquired about roll-away beds and was able to make this work for us.
Check-in was not quick, but was friendly. The person checking us in had on a name tag which indicated she was a front desk supervisor or manager but she was not familiar with how to process our payment of a BW Travel Card. However, she politely asked for our patience and placed a call to someone for help, then took care of everything. While I was still waiting at the front desk, I mentioned we had the need for a roll-away bed, and she asked a passing staff member to take it to our room. It was there by the time we arrived.
The hotel lobby had signs indicating that the property is in the midst of renovation and our room appeared to have been recently completed. The paint, carpet and linens all looked very fresh and the room smelled good. The accommodations were spacious and included a king bed with two night stands, a small table with two wooden arm chairs, a TV armoire and a small desk with rolling chair. There is also a large kitchenette counter with bar-sized sink, mini fridge and microwave, plus a coffee maker. There was plenty of space to set out our cooler and the few snack items we'd brought along.
We had a balcony large enough for two arm chairs and a small glass-top table. There is a beautiful view from every room, from what I could see, and even though we were on the first floor, we were still elevated a bit from the walkway. Noise from the highway was not a problem, however, we did have some noise coming through the walls (or connecting door) from the neighbors who were traveling with a young child.
The location may not be the best. You cannot easily walk into town from this property, so this property will be best for guests who can/will be willing to drive a little. The views are worth it, though.
The complimentary breakfast will be a bit of a joke for us for awhile. The room it is held in is so small that they actually had the toaster outside by the pool! There were the usual free breakfast offerings- cereals, bread for toasting, yogurt, whole fruits, coffee and juice. It was adequate, but very, very cramped. If the weather was not nice enough for several people to sit outside, it would not have worked for the volume of guests at all.
It should also be mentioned that at this time, the pool is completely drained for refurbishment. If swimming in the pool is important, one should inquire as to its status prior to booking.
We enjoyed our stay and would choose this hotel again if in the area.
