We made our reservation over one month in advance and guaranteed it for late arrival with a credit card. We called at 7pm to advise the hotel we would arrive close to 10pm. The person at the front desk said our room was "waiting" and confirmed that our credit card guaranteed the room for late arrival. We arrived at 9:30pm and was told that the hotel had been oversold and that they had given our room away to a online travel agent guest. The front desk person said he had arranged for us to stay in Santa Maria - 25 miles south. The room was close to $80 more per night. Since it was a higher rate, we were told that the difference would be billed to Mission Inn and that the Santa Maria hotel would only ask us to pay the Mission Inn rate. Thankfully I called to confirm this information with the Santa Maria hotel and they said we had no guaranteed room with their hotel nor would they bill Mission Inn for the difference in price. Wow!

The young man at the front desk told us that the whole mess "was not his fault" and if we wanted to "blame someone, to blame his manager " who apparently told him to bump us for guests who had booked through a "third party reservation service". He went on to say "there are no guaranteed rooms here even with a credit card". So beware!!!! This was Memorial Day weekend!!! This hotel is dishonest and does not follow industry standards for guest reservations.

After waiting at the front desk for close to two hours, the Front Desk Manager arrived, and gave us a room at 11:15pm. I think they would rather give us a room then have us sleep in their lobby.....

Pleasant hotel. Includes breakfast. Close to the small outlet center. Large rooms with comfortable beds. Easy access to parking and free internet.

This was an overnight stay while on the road. Would definitely stay again.

Loved the hotel, very updated and nice rooms that included a mini-fridge! The onsite washers/driers allowed me to keep up with the laundry on our extended stay. Watched a couple of games there on their flatscreen in the bar area. Friendly service staff also. Lots of nice places to eat nearby (try the sushi bar across the street, and Woodstock Pizza in downtown SLO). Couple of churches also within a 15-20 min walk. Only negative was the internet. It was horribly slow, felt just like bad dial-up about 5 years ago. All of my coworkers experienced the same issue whether it was LAN connect or wireless. We all hated it, and mentioned to the hotel front desk, yet there was nothing at the time they could offer as a solution. So, if you go, take an air-card and you will be totally enjoy your stay!

My wife and I stayed at the Mission Inn of Pismo Beach the first and second night of a weeklong trip on California's Central Coast. The Hotel is very nice: clean, large rooms, swimming pool, hot tub, all the stuff you'd expect, with what we found to be very reasonable rates.

Hotel highlights include room layout and the breakfast. Our room had a king-size bed, two chairs, a desk, TV, & etc, but still seemed quite large. The bathroom was not one of those tiny hotel bathrooms you sometimes see, and there was a separate sink & mirror outside of the bathroom. The hotel offered a hot breakfast (included in the room price) with eggs, sausage, breads, cereals, fruit & etc.

The hotel's location could be viewed as a plus or a minus, depending on your desires. It is located just off of HWY 1 (in and around Pismo Beach, HWY 1 is a multi-lane divided highway), so the hotel provides an easy spot to find and is in a quiet neighborhood. This being said, the hotel is not in downtown Pismo Beach and is not with-in walking distance of much of anything (the internet says that the shortest walking route would be about 3 miles from downtown Pismo Beach). It is a short drive (say, 3-5 minutes) from the beach, the pier, and the main Pismo Beach attractions.

As a side note, we enjoyed visiting Grover Beach (you can take your car right onto the beach there), Guiseppe's Restaurant, and shopping at the Prime Outlet Shopping Center.
