“We keep coming back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

This was our 3rd or 4th time back, and this time we brought friends from Palm Desert. They loved it too and want to come back for a month! The staff is amazing! So professional, friendly and accommodating! They take pleasure in doing all kinds of little extra things to make your stay unbelievable enjoyable. Like Erica Avila, the Manager, always doing anything she can too accommodate you on requests, and Sarah, one of the waiters in Lido Restaurant, actually brought all four of our deserts to our room after dinner, so we could eat it later...amazing! The sent binoculars to the room to see the dolphins and the Valet attendant actually ran to our vehicle to retrieve my wife's cell phone after she forgot it. The rooms are like luxury condos with ALL of the amenities you could ever need or want. I can't say enough about this place, it's the best!

Room Tip: I'm sure that they are all great. We always get the oceanfront though.

Seasoned travelers with high standards (love and appreciate that we have stayed at Ritz Carltons, Park Hyatts, etc.) we were delighted with our stay at the Dolphin Bay Resort on California's Central Coast. From phone conversations regarding room selections to check-out, our interactions with the hotel staff were A+. Staff was friendly without being cloying, and actively helpful. More importantly, the apartment was superb. We chose an incredibly spacious, oceanfront, 2 BR (Suite 422-top floor), which overlooked the lovely heated saline water pool and jacuzzi and had an unobstructed view of the ocean. The master bedroom suite was spectacular with a walk-in closet suitable for a two-week stay and a bathroom with double sinks, jacuzzi, and separate shower. Although located just off the 101 along a line of hotels facing the ocean, all units face westward and we heard no highway noise. In fact, we left our balcony door open to listen to the roar of the ocean. There is also a large kitchen where you could make any meal, being appointed with full oven, microwave We intend to return and will recommend this Preferred Hotel to all of our friends.

Room Tip: Unit 422 on fourth floor, which faces the ocean, but is removed from the promenade that overlooks th...

Dolphin Bay resort is such a wonderful gem! This was our second visit, the first being in September for a wedding, so obliviously we enjoyed it so much we wanted to return. We stayed in a 2 bedroom ocean front room, and we were not disappointed. It was very big, comfortable, very clean, and relaxing. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and worked very hard to make our stay better than we could imagine. I look forward to going back and staying longer.

My 6 year old daughter and I took a weekend getaway to Shell Beach. We stayed at Dolphin Bay resort and loved our room and would absolutely stay there again. It's a beautiful hotel overlooking the ocean and is a hidden gem! For families, one great thing they do is greet your child with their own beach bucket filled with snacks, toys, arts and crafts items, and a sand toy. Excellent touch right from the start! The valet service is really friendly and kind. They showed my daughter all the board game and DVD movies she could check out in the lobby. She felt very welcomed and excited to see that she could check stuff out and she talked to the valet guys each time we went near the lobby like they were friends. They gave us directions and tips on what to see and where all the good tourist spots are. The front desk staff is also very friendly, polite and extra helpful. They seemed to bend over backwards to help us in any way possible.
Upon arrival, we asked to view both an ocean view and partial ocean view room, which they were happy to do for us. We ended up saving some $ with the partial view overlooking the pool, but you could still view the ocean & sunsets from this room on the great balcony. I had my morning coffee there each day. Great spot to read a book, too.
We highly recommend this place, as it is very new, clean, upscale and feels comfortable at the same time. The furniture is very upscale and nicely chosen. They did the rooms right! There is a wonderful small kitchen with granite counters and stainless steel appliances with everything you need to prepare your own meals and snacks, if you like. If not, the restaurant called Lido is outstanding! The manager at the restaurant was very kind to my daughter and helpful. She had the pasta and olive bread and I dined on the filet and red wine - so it's a win/win there for mother and child.
The bedroom had white fluffy duvets, flat screen tv, and a big spacious bathroom with nice products. We slept soundly.
We both enjoyed lounging by the beautiful pool and hot tub. There were two other children there that weekend, so she found a couple of playmates. It was mainly adults, but since we were there off season the kids were not yet there. The pool is big and clean and there is pool side drink and food service. The beach was good at low tide and we went the see all the hermit crabs and starfish that were in the tide pools. Bring aqua socks or flip flops here!!!!
We went into Pismo beach for the day and enjoyed looking at all the little shops and my daughter played at the park. There is also a spa on site, but with my daughter I didn't have time to get a massage or facial, although nice to know I could have.
You will love this place, but it's not inexpensive. There are other less expensive spots there, but they are not even half as nice as this place. Seriously, you really do get what you pay for and we felt it was $ well spent. It felt clean, luxurious and was well appointed. We came home happy, spoiled and refreshed.

Room Tip: Partial ocean view or ocean view great! I have forgotten our exact rooms number but like us, you can...

Spent a brief, three night honeymoon at the resort. The entire Dolphin Bay team helped make the special occasion relaxing a memorable. Everyone from the valet, to housekeeping, to the wait staff in the Lido Restaurant (GREAT FOOD, TOO), to the front desk staff; all were helpful and genuinely friendly. They have a earned a customer for life in me. I highly recommend the Dolphin Bay Resort to anyone contemplating a central coast visit.

Room Tip: Make sure to request an ocean front room; some look over the swimming pool (but are still nice).
