“Decent value, a bit noisy.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2006

This place is owned by the same folks that own Steamers. The restaurant is busy, crowded and noisy. Lots of food for the money. Watch out for the never ending basket of onion rings. It may go to your waist.

No complaints with the quality of the food. Service was a bit slow, but that was mainly due to the significant number of people being served. Order drinks early and often as you'll wait fofr seconds.

Ann excellent value if you don't mind the wait and/or noise.

“Good value!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2006

We had a party of 19 for a wedding anniversary and McLintocks pulled through. Although they don't take reservations on Friday and Saturday nights we were seated within a 1/2 hour of arriving. We arrived early to avoid the Saturday night rush. We had the Fireside Room all to ourselves.

We did have a couple of hitches though. One order, the steak and rib combo, came out dry. Two people got served the wrong meal, one person decided to keep the meal they were served and the other requested the original meal. The replacement was out within a few minutes.

Now for the good. The meal price included onion ring appetizer, dinner salad (spinach, tossed green or Caesar) ranch beans, pan-fried potatoes, garlic bread, and a desert ice-cream or aperitif. The steaks were generous in size. One person ordered a Cobb salad and it was huge!. Another person had a special request on a pasta entree and it was granted with no problem. We had 5 children in the party and they ate free. Kids had a choice between a small sirloin steak or hamburger with a an adult entree.

Overall we had a very good experience at McLintocks. The food was flavorful with generous portions.

McLintocks should be at the top of your list if you are a beef-lover!!!

“Good service, bland food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2005

As most of the mediocre reviews have stated, F. McLintocks has good, friendly service and bland, chewy food.

I ordered the 5 oz. steak and ribs combo. The steak took a lot of effort to chew (the flavor was OK) while the ribs were the opposite - good consistancy, but quite bland.

The wife's beef ribs were messy and a 6 on a 1-10 scale. The all-you-can eat potato, beans and bread don't make up for the only so-so food with a hefty price tag.

We won't be back.

“Hold the Salt & Pepper”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2005

Below average dining with hideous prices. If you like heavily spiced food and beef that is one step above jerky this is the place for you. Had dinner there about three nights ago and I'm still chewing on the sirloin they served me. But if you are a big eater you can get all the beans, bread and potatoes you can stuff yourself with. It also has a bar, an ocean view and in a tasteless old west/cowboy decor. The view would have been better if they would have washed the windows! Needless to say this is an over-rated tourist trap that the wise traveller should pass on unless you really like bread, beans and spuds.

“Great ambience, mediocre food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2005

Everyone who's ever been to Pismo'll probably tell you to check out F. McLintock's Salon & Dining (one "O" light was out on their sign when we were their). It has a very Western/Saloon type look with the noisy decibel level to match. From the hostess to the servers, everyone was extremely accomodating and friendly. Unfortunately the resto wasn't able to come full cirlce as the food served was medicore. The menu reads like a carnivore's delight with a bajillion different types of steak. We ordered the ribs and, though very meaty, had an unexpectedly bland taste. The sides and fixins fell into the same average category. Perhaps our picks didn't reflect universally upon the rest of the menu, but having experienced this local landmark and having enjoyed the "experience" portion of the restaurant, we'll probably go elsewhere next time for our meat cravins.
