“Very good Campground for families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

This is a great place to camp, specially who have kids in the range of 6 to 12. The water spray park is very exciting for the kids. The mini golf, Basket ball and other sport activities. It looks to be very safe place. It has thick trees keeping the area covered and cool. We were two families. They allow 2 tents and maximum of 5 persons per camp site. The Toilets are cleaned and maintained frequently and the water in the shower was hot throughout the day.
The two drawbacks with this place are 1. the camp ground which is very dusty if someone drives through or if the security guys keep driving. 2.I think none of the camp sites are plain grounds, meaning a bit on the slope of the hill. So, in sleep you keep rolling on the other person !!
Good thing ... No fear of Bears or any other animal.
Would recommend those with kids !!

Just got back and wanted to share our thoughts. Although it was a bit cold, which is out of the norm, we had a great time. Very few campers this week, which made us really appreciate our surroundings. The staff was outstanding and especially friendly! The grounds needed a little bit of work but the staff was busy at work getting things ready for the summer. Lots of things to do for the kids and teens. This is only 1 1/2 hours from home so we really got to enjoy our time there. We enjoyed it so much that we are going back in May.

The park gets better with every trip we make - Our children have never been in the snow before and it was a great time to come. There wasn't alot of snow but enough for the boys to have a good time and enjoy hot chocolate in the cabin when they were done playing. The love to play minature golf as well so again the resort came through - can't say enough about the park!!! Thank you for great memories

We stayed at the Resort on 2 occasions. We are work campers and in between our jobs we stayed at the Gold Country RV Resort.
As work campers you tend to look at things from a different angle.. and I give them a 10 out of 10. The park is very pretty with lots of trees yet open and airy it is a good combination of the 2.
The park was clean, quite, peaceful, secure and the workers very courteous and helpful. The sites here are terraced but the road is very nicely paved. We liked the way that the park is laid out. If you are in need of a more flat level area.. ask for a site at the top of the hill in the park.
I was quite impressed with what they have to offer there at the resort. They have accommodations to meet all your needs, whether you are a large group , family reunion, or single family.
They have wifi, cable, an arcade / craft building, large swimming pool, Children's play ground, a club house w/ a large area for out door meetings or large family cook outs. They have a gazebo which would be perfect for weddings, a miniature golf course, a water wonderland play area and much more. They are located right across the street from a company which offers gold panning trips. I am sure that i am forgetting to mention some other amenities which they have to offer their guests who stay there.
I do understand in the past that this park was questionable but the new owners/management have it going on.. Don't miss this one, you will not be disappointed. I might also mention that they are located in an area with so much to see and do whether your coming in the Summer or the Winter.
We would definitely stay there again and look forward to it.

It is hard to describe the experience we had at this campground. We are a young family, with a 1 yr old and a 3 yr old. At first, we were excited by the clean pool, the mini-golf and the charming cabins. But this place is completely mismanaged and badly run. The campground for tents is very small and the trees are sparse, first of all. But it was what happened after that was so horrible. About ten p.m., as we were starting to put the baby to sleep, our "neighbor" came over to tell us that they were planning to watch a movie at their site-- right across the way from us. Here's the catch. Our neighbor, a big loud lumbering drunk guy with at least fifteen others, was campground staff. He announced that they were going to borrow the projector that they usually use to show movies down at the office area to show a movie at their campsite. Imagine Alice in Wonderland blared as loud as possible across the tiny road that separated our campsites. We did not complain. Who to complain to when this is the staff? After the movie, we expected them to quiet down. Around 12, they continued to yell, scream and laugh as loud as possible. My husband went over to ask if they could quiet down. We were asked by another female staff member to MOVE CAMPSITES instead! At midnight! With two little kids! My husband returned, we tried to sleep. Then, across the road, we heard the campground staff members make fun of my husband's unusual name. THen someone drove away (drunk, I might add) and honked his or her horn as loud as possible as they drove past our tents. This was the campground staff. This was the worst experience of my life, and I will never patrnoize this place again. It is horrible, and I recommend you stay far far away as they have no concern for their patrons, at all. (We heard one staff member say the place would go under if it weren't for the employee camping discount, anyway).

The new partners are really turning this into a great park. There is a small motel, with about 5 rooms which I think are being fixed up and also becoming handicap accessible. There is also many tent sites, hookup sites with full hookups (including cable), and sites that we heard will soon have yurts (big, round permanent tents with wooden floors). I'm thinking these will probably have cots or something in them. Also, they have a few small, one bedrooms cabins that have recently been renovated and they are adding new cabins soon too. As far as activities, there is a pool, miniature golf course, arcade, general store, barbecues, and arts and crafts. It was great for kids. It is also near a lake, the town of Pine Grove, Jackson Rancheria casino, Indian Grinding Rock State Park, Kennedy Gold Mine, and Black Chasm Cavern. We heard that they have many more plans for the park also. We stayed in the hookups and had a great time. The kids loved the arts and crafts. The cabins would be a great compromise for a family who wants to get out in the mountains, but isn't in love with camping. The whole facility is very family friendly.

  • Liked — The variety of sleeping accommodations and variety of activities. And it's in Gold Country, so there's great tourism.
  • Disliked — It's not a four star hotel, its a campground, so I got exactly what I expected from it. No complaints.
