“Gorgeous drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

The inland valley is very scenic. Not the greatest road for some of it, but lovely in all the different seasons. You'll probably see flocks of turkeys, maybe a deer or two (hopefully not in the road) and wonderful vistas.

“Anderson Valley (Boonville) on Hwy 128”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

What is not to like driving from Cloverdale to Hwy 1 slong the Navarro River to the North Coast of Mendocino. Boonville is a great one-horse town. Eat at Lauren's Cafe for healthy, delicious, down-home Food. Vist Burt's Boontberry Farms Store opposite the drive-in at the north end of town.

“Simply magical”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

This probably was what Napa valley was before it become too commercialized. It is gorgeous and simple. There are just enough wineries for a long weekend stay and enough places in Boonville to enjoy an intimate stay. It is about a 45 minute drive or an hour to the coastline. That road is quite windy. You drive through beautiful land and vineyards. Its a vastly open area.

“Ahh, the Anderson Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

So many first class wineries. The scenery is glorious - unspoiled by commercialism. Favorite Cabernet - Silver Oak has vineyard here.

“Picnic Central where hospitality prevails”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

If you are headed for the Mendocino Coast, stopping at Navarro Winery and Handley Cellars (among other fabulous wineries) is a must. Both have lovely garden settings with clean picnic areas. Buy a bottle of Navarro pino noir (paired with cold poached salmon or chicken which you bring along) or Handley gewurstraminer (great with melon). Both make a perfect stop enroute to the coast. Staff are gracious, restrooms are clean. A great place to walk the dog. Another "must stop" is the Apple Farm in Philo to buy the worlds best jams and chutneys ($14 each and self-serve). The Apple Farm is also a great cooking school but book that well in advance. If you stay at the Apple Farm, beware of the rooster who welcomes the sun at 5am!
