“Challenged Housekeeping”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

This is the first Sheraton property to which I would not return. Housekeeping standards are way, way below expectations. Dirty floors in the hallways - and, apparently not vacuumed in days, crumbs, q-tips and worse. Greasy film on lounge table tops. where did the housekeeping staff and supervisors go? Hotel not recommended. Looks nice on the outside, but our inside experience will keep us from coming back. Would like to send Mr Sheraton a letter.

Room Tip: marina views blocked by rooftop fans and the like.... check on that before you pay extra.

Dear Roger,

I am very disppointed to hear of the housekeeping problems you had while our guest. This is an area we usually get great feedback on. I have discussed the specific details you have mentioned with our housekeepers and they are already working on taking care of them.

Thanks very much for your candid comments.

Nice, non-descript Sheraton hotel in an attractive location just off 101 next to a small yacht harbor and area with nature trails. Friendly bar staff and surprisingly good 'hotel' food (our event banquet was very good). Room was pleasant but spoiled by noisy air-conditioning unit and mildew on the ceiling in the bathroom (the smell of it was immediately noticeable on entering the room).

My husband I just stayed at the Sheraton for 5 nights for an adult "art camp" program. We loved the program and the hotel did a nice job with making the rooms paint/glue/metal soldering ready. It was easy to navigate between classrooms (banquet halls and meeting rooms) and group meals. As most people have stated, good pricing value for the area and the beds are great. The food was ok, but nothing special. Going into town at night was a much better choice for dinner. My only complaint was that the hotel was sorely understaffed in the restaurant and particularly the bar in the evenings. Knowing that our group of 300 would finish their classes at 5:00 every night, they (yikes!) had only 1 bartender behind the bar, and 1 waitress serving drinks and food in the lounge/restaurant area. Even after the first night, they didn't figure this issue out, and there was lots (and lots!) of complaining by the guests. After a long day of creating in different classes, most people wanted to meet up with friends at the end of the day and because of the lack of staff, it was difficult to do this with our large group. This hotel is not within walking distance to downtown.

Good hotel for Sonoma county, good price considering Napa Valley hotels can be ridiculously expensive. The rooms are OK, typical of mid range Sheraton hotels. Beds are great since they are the typical Westin/Sheraton heavenly beds. Restaurant food was adequate but somewhat expensive. Pool and jacuzzi was good except for the drunk people that have spent all day wine tasting, all they could talk about is how they drove from winery to winery tasting wines, in my opinion they need to get a life. Overall it's a good stopover for a Napa/Sonoma visit.

We stayed here because the rate was excellent and close to the wine country and the coast. The hotel was very nice and our room large, clean and very quiet. The hotel has a restaurant and lounge and the food was good.

This hotel is on a marina and not within walking distance to other restaurants or downtown area. However, it is a good location for taking day trips around the area and beats paying the high high hotel rates in Sonoma, Napa and Bodega Bay.

We would definately return.

The website for this is good! The reality less so. It is on a tiny marina on a river, and if you ask for a room with a view of the marina, you also get a view of the highway. Downtown Petaluma is not within walking dustance, you have to drive. The hotel itself was nice , what you would expect from a Sheraton. There was also a very nice walking trail slong the river and marshes. It was quite thrifty also. If you need a convenient base in Sonoma, this is fine, not much by itself though.

David Scott is the General Manager of the Sheraton in Petaluma and he has a great property. His staff is attentive and the hotel is clean and well run.. Great location, views are great, close to the funky downtown area. A great place to be in Northern California

Room Tip: Get away from the elevator! There is a buzzing from the electrical closet!
