Truly first rate. Loved the room. Loved the courses. Loved having sundowners with the bagpiper playing in the background. Firepits at Roy's add great warmth and atmosphere (and the food was great). Service throughout the hotel was very good. (But service at Sticks restaurant was SLOW and they got our order wrong). Overall, I found The Inn at Spanish Bay worth the indulgence, but it will be a long time before I do it again. Ridiculously expensive.

This was my first time at the Pebble Beach complex and we stayed at Spanish Bay Inn. It's cheaper to stay there than at the Lodge and much much quieter. All of the staff makes you feel like you're the only one who is at the hotel. They come to clean your room late morning and then check back a couple of times during the day to see if you need anything. At night they come and turn your bed down and leave chocolates and bottled water and if you've used towels since the morning they will put more out as well as pick up the dirty ones.
The spa at Pebble Beach is just amazing and truely first class.
The best place to eat is at Roy's for dinner there at Spanish Bay. The restaurant across from the Lodge on Pebble Beach course has a wonderful breakfast menu.

  • Liked — It was very quiet once you got into your room and the fireplace in the room was awesome!
  • Disliked — Pricing of the food at the restaurants on the complex is very pricey.

I must say this was the most expensive hotel/resort I've ever stayed at but by far, not the nicest. You're paying for bragging rights, image, prestige. Yes, the rooms were very nice and spacious, decently appointed and cozy. The downsides are: noisy, noisy, noisy!, poorly lit vanities outside the bathrooms and no fans for the bathroom or vanity area - made if very stuffy while trying to get ready for your day/evening. Also, the food was good, but far overpriced and very typical - middle america normal. If you want some great food, drive north to SF and take your pick! The golfer in the group did love the courses and wants to come back again but his wife and I don't golf and thought we'd stay in SF and shop... The grounds and buildings are very attractive, the views amazing, the flower arrangements throughout the hotel wonderful. So, if you're in to golf, go, but don't expect it to be any better than any other place you've stayed, just more expensive. Oh, and the bagpiper and outdoor fire pits do add a nice touch to the evening wind down...

I took my husband here for his birthday. It was fantastic. Everything from a bottle of champagne placed in the room (compliments of the hotel as a birthday gift), to the linens to the service was super. We played at Pebble Beach, Spyglass and The Links at Spanish Bay. Very different course, but each fantastic. It was beautiful weather too, which always helps. Our room had a partial ocean view (but we were only there at night), with a fireplace. The bed was extremely comfortable with wonderful sheets. The towels, plenty provided, were soft and fluffy. The number of toiletries, such as lotion, shampoo, facial mist, soaps, conditioners, mouthwash was extensive. These were very good size containers. The bathroom was very big, with both a large shower and a jetted tub.
Although guests are able to use both the fitness /pool facilities at the Lodge and at the Inn, we only used the one at the Inn, Great fitness equipment, nice pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna.
We ate at Sticks both nights. The food was excellent and service friendly and professional. We didn't think and ordered a Double Blood Mary with Grey Goose...I think it was about $18.00.
WiFi was included in the room rate. Certainly not an inexpensive hotel, but we sure got what we paid for. I look forward to going back .

A Great Weekend

My brother gave me (and himself) an incredible birthday present: a weekend in Pebble Beach, which included a couple of rounds of golf, great food, a couple of visits to the spa, and a forest-view room at The Inn at Spanish Bay.

The hotel facilites were supurb. Every employee we met was friendly and helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. The front-desk was especially outstanding. (I'm always impressed when the hotel staff can connect a face and a name right-away, so that when you walk up to the guest services desk, you are always greeted with "Good <time-of-day>, Mr. Williams.)

The room was on the second floor, so we had a balcony overlooking the back of the grounds. Very peaceful. Inside there were two very comfortable queen beds; a full, tiled bath; dressing area with another sink outside the bathroom; and a fireplace. The turn-down service had the usual chocolates, but also included two bottles of water.

As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel has an all-tips-inclusive resort fee, which means one doesn't have to worry about tipping the hotel staff. Note: The fee does not cover restaurant, lounge, or golf employees, so tip them on your own.

To top it off, we accidently left some belongings in the in-room safe. We called the next day, and the resort retrieved the items and overnighted them to us.

If I ever have a chance to return to Pebble Beach, I'd definitely choose to stay again at The Inn at Spanish Bay.
