DH and I traveled down through California to treat ourselves for making it through a particularly stressful time, this was our first stop. It was outstanding in every way.

Our trip was somewhat last minute and poorly organized due to stress and lack of time (we just wanted to get out of town and fast) and everywhere we fell down, the staff was there to pick us up. I forgot both my battery and a power cord for my laptop -- the staff found one for me (and offered to drive to an electronics store to buy me one if necessary). We were terrible about arranging transportation ahead of time and they, not once but twice, chauffered us around (once into Carmel and at the end our trip back to the airport rather than having us take the shuttle).

Our room was lovely. DH loved the outdoor jacuzzi. I loved the quiet. Breakfast every morning was more than wonderful as we ate fresh fruit and breads, drank coffee/tea in our robes and decided what we'd do for the day.

Neither of us play golf and we didn't feel left out in the slightest. We went to the gym (working out with a spectacular view on the beach) and we went to the spa. No tennis this trip but definitely next trip.

A day trip to Carmel was fabulous.

We went to 3 of the restaurants for dinner and found both XIX and Stillwater's to be wonderful (we also went to Roy's which I find only so-so but it was convenient. We've been to the one in Palm Springs and I simply am not impressed by it.)

We're definitely going back and for a longer stay (we only stayed 3 nights before heading to our next destination).

My husband and I are avid travelers, stay in hotels across the globe, and have reasonable accommodation expectations. Casa Palmero was one of the worst properties I have ever set eyes on. The service was atrocious, and the staff (when they were actually present) was arrogant, rude, and unaccommodating. Our room looked like a cheap Tex-Mex restaurant in a strip mall. The hideous bedding was the perfect "cover the stains" brownish pattern, the bathroom was architecturally incorrect, and the overall layout was awkward and uncomfortable. We ordered room service that was late, soggy, and delivered by three confused and scrambling employees. The only activity for a non-golfer (in June) was the spa which was overpriced and overcrowded. Given the location, this resort has incredible potential, but either needs a management change or an entire revamping. The layout of the Pebble Beach complex is similar to that of a minimum security prison only with tacky shops and restaurants. The difference from the aforementioned is the ability to jump into one's car and speed away into the sunset.

The private patio with Jacuzzi was an incredible treat. Immaculate, well-appointed room and ultra-attentive staff. Chauffeur service available and they even let you "test drive" a Lexus convertible for two hours. It's very expensive, but then most items are "complimentary," including drinks in evening, continental breakfast, mini-bar items. After a trip to the spa I was the most relaxed I have ever been. (I would definitely confirm room type, though. Our private outdoor Jacuzzi made all the difference. Some rooms are much more basic.)

“Management Lacking Compassion”

Casa Palmero at Pebble Beach

I travel for a living, and I have to say - this was not a stay that I would chalk up to being a memorable experience. Keeping it short and sweet I'll tell you that the "Hotel Manager" or "Innkeeper" did not assist me in the fashion that I would have expected in this type of environment - the location and the property itself was more than I could have imagined, but the Management was aloof, and when I brought my issue to her, she seemed to treat me in a condescending manner - for the amount of money I spent on this trip as well as for golf and dining - you would think the Hotel Manager would have been more gracious. My advice to Pebble Beach and Ownership - Keep the Hotel - get rid of the Manager.

My wife and I stayed at the Casa in June 2004 for our 10th anniversary. This is definitely a perfect romantic location. The spacious room with its own private outdoor hot tub is beyond compare! Everything is luxurious and immaculate! Service is outstanding! The grounds are beautifully landscaped with vibrant colors, yet it's peaceful and relaxing. The spa is located right next door, and the famous Pebble Beach golf links is just outside of the entrance. We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary use of the exhilarating Lexus SC 430 convertible. We also stayed at the Lodge at Pebble Beach (a very nice hotel in its own rights), but would rather return to the Casa on our next visit. Yes, it is VERY expensive, but well worth the experience.
