“Historic Hotel with a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014

We booked this hotel on a journey from Southern California back to Seattle and were not disappointed. Check in was efficient if not extra friendly. The room in one of the lodges in the gardens was a standard room with a very comfortable bed so we knew we we would have a comfortable night. The large bathroom had a great shower and nice soft water. The hotel is ideal for families as it has beautiful gardens and a great swimming pool.We booked a table in the restaurant, great menu, very good food and excellent service. We could hear some music from above and after our meal we adjourned to the Cattleman's bar upstairs where we joined some locals and enjoyed the entertainment. Being a Thursday night it was a pleasant surprise to have entertainment laid on. A very pleasant Lisa served us our drinks and as we left she thanked us for our visit. We were surprised to see her first thing again in the morning bright and cheerful welcoming guests to breakfast. We will return again.

A sensational find on a road trip from LA to San Francisco. The Inn is right in the centre square of town with wonderful gardens throughout the building space including the chef's garden vegetables scattered around. The rooms are a good size but not oversized...plenty of room for 3 adults to share.

The Restaurant had a good selection of food and our server was very helpful and friendly, even splitting a shared meal onto 2 plates for us. Eating on the outside patio allowed us to gaze at the water feature and hear the water trickling down its tiny waterfall.

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us. Paso Robles is unique because it is a small and quiet town with a big town feel because of its many local attractions from being home to many wineries and located approximately half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. I am glad that you were able to enjoy our newly renovated rooms and our Chef’s Gardens. Our restaurant is one of the best steakhouse’s in town and I am delighted to hear you were able to enjoy a meal with us during your stay. Thank you for your kind comments, and we look forward to your future stay.

The hotel is very well located, the grounds are lovely and some amenities were fine, like the fridge and microwave. However there were no robes and the coffee maker was stained and the instructions for its use were illegible. The desk staff were VERY perfunctory in their greeting and information. For example, we found the tub to be slippery. There was a hand bar, but no rubber mat. At check out time, we reported this to the person at the desk who told us that next time we make a reservation, we should request one be put in our room. The parking space for our room was a distance away. We weren't told that luggage carts are available. We only saw one across the road when we packed up our car to leave. We are seniors, have stayed at many places in our lives and expect better service.

Room Tip: I can't tell you.

This is our second visit to this hotel. It is a great location and provides easy access to all the wineries and great restaurants in town. The rooms are clean and quiet. We stayed for a wedding and since check in is at 4pm they could not guarantee early check in. Luckily our room was ready for a quick change before the ceremony. However other guests were not so fortunate and had to change in the public restroom next to the lobby which had sparse amenities. They should have a day room available for this purpose. Other than that no major issues. The grounds are gorgeous and we enjoyed a quiet basic room in the back of the property.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us. I am happy to hear that our location was perfect for your stay and made your travels to our downtown area and wineries so quick and easy. We do our best to offer each of our guests a quiet and relaxing stay, and I am glad that you were able to enjoy every aspect of your visit with us. I am pleased to hear that we were able to check you into your room in time for the ceremony. We do recommend to our wedding guests that they book with us the night prior to an event or ceremony since we are unable to guarantee a check in time prior to 4pm. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us and we look forward to seeing you the next time your travels bring you back to Paso Robles.

Close to great restaurants you can walk around the town. Request a room with a mineral spa inside. It's got a cozy bar with live music. Fun.......the staff at the counter are ver helpful. You can have breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a mineral spa

We love Paso Robles Inn mainly because it is right in the middle of town, we can walk to shopping, restaurants, etc. However that being said, they have raised rates, no longer offer friends and family discounts (we use this Inn a lot, at least 4 to 5 times a year), they no longer provide robes in the room and the parking lot is always full so hard to find a place to park on the premises. We had to stay in the Annex this past visit, much smaller room, more expensive and the smell from the hot water spring was very sulfuric. We could not sit out on the small balcony. However that being said, the bar is still very nice (great band on Friday and Saturdays, friendly and helpful staff), gardens are as beautiful as ever. We did voice our concern about parking, lack of discount(s) and loss of some of the amenities. We do love that that have a refrigerator in the room.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the center of the complex, not above the spa rooms.

Thank you for sharing your comments on your recent stay with us. We have recently remodeled our entire property to offer our guests the best fusion of new age comfort with historical charm. Each of our deluxe mineral spa rooms do offer our guests use of our robes, and robes are available upon request for our traditional rooms. This past spring break season we did experience some very high occupancies, which did fill our parking lots. Our Cattlemen’s Lounge is fantastic, and does have live music on Friday and Saturday nights as well as acoustic music on Thursday nights! I do appreciate your feedback on your most recent stay with us, and if you would like to contact us I would love to make sure that you are on our email list for any E-blasts or specials which are released via email to our returning guests. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Location is so important when you stay at a property. The Paseo Robles Inn couldn't be better located. It is directly across the street from the town plaza with its many shops, excellent restaurants and wine tasting. The garden grounds are really beautiful and pleasant to walk through or sit at the patio bar and enjoy looking at. Because most of the rooms are off the main street it is fairly quiet during the day and at night. The rooms were ample size and pleasant. Liked the two shades that gave either privacy or black out at night. Our room had a double sink in the bathroom which was very nice. Lots of room. The shower seemed new, worked well and was very clean.
Among the downside as other reviewers have mentioned are the beds. Not the best mattresses but adequate. The pillows were probably the worse we have slept on in ages. Getting into the shower is a bit difficult as it has a rather high side. A grab bar is there but thought it would be hard for either elderly or short people. The T.V. service was decades out of date. Hopefully, most people don't stay here to watch t.v. The internet worked off and on and I'm not sure it has room connections. We might have been picking up the front lobby internet.
The staff was very efficient and the rooms were very clean. We had breakfast each morning and because we were traveling with a group the food was rather basic but o.k. One morning we did have an omelet and a pancake breakfast and both were very good. Looking at the other hotels in town, I think this hotel is being short changes a bit. Can't imagine the chain hotels being better than the Paso Robles Inn.

Thank you for commenting on your recent stay with us! We are considered to be located in the main downtown of Paso Robles and our hotel is within walking distance from many top rated restaurants, wine tasting locations, and boutique shopping options. Our entire staff takes great pride in our expansive gardens, and our housekeeping does their utmost to ensure that each of our guests check into a room that is quiet, clean, and comfortable. Many of our rooms that have recently been remodeled do feature a deep soaking tub in the room to offer some rooms a spa experience even though they do not have one of our deluxe mineral spa rooms. Thank you for all of your comments on your recent stay with us, and we hope to see you again the next time your travels bring you through Paso Robles!
