“Great hotel. Didn't feel cheap at all!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Nice room. Friendly helpful staff. Clean. Right off the freeway. Walking distance to lots of places to eat! One of the best rates we could find, even though we still payed $170 for a Sat in March. Didn't feel like a "motel."

Stayed at the Best Western Plus Black Oak while touring the wine country. I had asked for a room away from the ice machine when I made the reservation and was surprised to learn that they had upgraded our room to a deluxe 2 Queen room. The room was very spacious and had wonderful amenities. Beds were comfortable and found that we slept better with the fan continuously running to drown out noise from other patrons. Would stay again.

Room Tip: For a quieter room, ask for one away from the ice machine.

A friend and I arrived at the hotel around 10 AM (were taking a winery tour that started at 10:40 with the pick-up being at the hotel) and asked if a room was available that early. The woman at the front desk was VERY accommodating and friendly. She allowed us to check-in and even gave us a call when the tour bus arrived 5 minutes early.
After the tour we sat by the lovely pool in a relaxed and quiet (surprising due to the location of the highway) atmosphere for the rest of the evening. Some people swam or were in the hot tub (both looked clean but we didn't get in).
The water pressure of the shower was great, the room was clean, there was a refrigerator and the 2 beds were comfortable. We would stay again.
One thing to note, there aren't a lot of steps to get to the 2nd floor but there isn't an elevator. We were in room 323 (quiet).

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

Stayed overnight on a quick road trip to L.A. --Liked it well enough that I returned and stayed in same room on the way back. Location is very handy for travel--right off the freeway. Except for HVAC unit, room was quiet (I'd asked for a quiet room.) despite proxmitiy to freeway. Room was clean, enough towels, basic amenities. Had troubles with electronic room key/card, but friendly front desk staff walked clear back to room with me to troubleshoot. Room charge includes a $5 voucher for breakfast at on-site restaurant/coffee shop, but having breakfast foods with me, I didn't use mine. Also a couple of fast-food places next door. Free wi-fi, but it was intermittent in the room I was in. (Maybe better access in rooms closer to front desk?) With auto club discount, price was reasonable. Probably wouldn't be my first choice for an extended stay (Whole place has a little bit of a shopworn feeling and not close to downtown), but worked great for this kind of trip.

Room Tip: If you will need dependable wi-fi access in your room, mention it when you make the reservation.

The check in process was friendly, informative, quick, easy, complete and it most certainly is the truth that Margies serves enough food for an army on your order! They were most accomodating when we had to leave a vehicle on property until after our ceremony (flat tire). They were knowledgeable about what services were in the area. Rooms were clean, very comfortable and even spacious for a hotel.
