“Enjoyable dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

While we enjoyed Artisan (their food is really good) we both felt like sitting at the bar was more enjoyable. It wasn't bad (everything was perfectly cooked) but the room was a bit chilly (their air conditioning clearly works), and the acoustics were such that it was hard to hear each other over the din from adjacent tables. Again- the food and service were very good and the menu had a wide range of options. The bar offers several wines on tap in addition to numerous cocktails.

“Mediocre”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

I thought this would be great because they try to be organic. The green salad with fresh beets was excellent. The rest of the menu tends to be really salty. Not a fan. Nice atmosphere and good service.

The bar is the best-- outdoor seating in the summer months is awesome-- the drinks are so innovative, really good, fresh ingredients. The Pizzas are amazing and the Mushroom Toast so gooood

“Go for the food, not the lighting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Artisan always placed high on our list of exceptional eating establishments prior to the move to their present location. We recently visited them for two evening meals, one weekend and one midweek. Both of experiences were good but could have been better with a little forethought by the restaurant's architect - design maven. The problem is not the food which was for us as delicious as ever, beautifully presented, and professionally served. No the problem was the lighting; it is simply sub par. How do we know this? Well when you can't distinguish the print on the menu to read it you know there is a problem. This issue stems from the location of the overhead fixtures viz a vie the tables. The lighting - table locations are not in sync providing some bright spots but also some very shady locations. Woe to those in the shade unless of course you are with someone you don't want to be seen with. Our suggestion to Artisan: take out the suspended warehouse fixtures and replace them with lighting that provides each table with its own cone of comfort.

“Not like it was”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

We first dined at Artisan about three years ago, when they were in their old location. It was a memorable meal. The dinner we had a few days ago came nowhere near that standard. Most restaurants have an occasional menu item that does not deliver, but there were so many disappointments with this meal that we will not return. The pizza, even straight from the oven, was soggy. The boar was well cooked, but the carrot risotto that supported it was so salty that it was inedible. The steak was a poor piece of beef, even for a flatiron cut, and was finished with an overly sweet glaze — everyone at the table was surprised by how poor it was. The accompanying mashed potatoes were, again, far too salty. The scallops were perfectly cooked, and for this reason I give Artisan two stars instead of one.
