The last time we were passing through the area we scoped the place out but settled on an old standby. With hindsight this was a mistake--we now have a new old standby. On this visit at first blush we again thought that the dinner house decor didn't quite fit with our plans for a more casual lunch spot on day one of a getaway at the beach . . . but we took a chance.
From a warm greeting to a cheerful thank you and goodbye we enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere very comfortable, the music controlled and appropriate for the setting, the service good but not perfect but our food was excellent. And on a 104 degree day the highly efficient air-conditioning was merciful! At least for lunch on a week day it seemed like the clientele is probably mostly north of 50 (and we increased the number somewhat). However, I imagine that the appeal is somewhat broader between Friday and Sunday when numerous oenophiles are exploring the numerous nearby wineries.
Anne enjoyed a fabulous seared ahi salad--great fish cooked to perfection, a wonderful lemon based dressing and nice accent touches. I broke training somewhat spoiling myself with a roasted pork sandwich served on a great roll with pineapple, caramelized onions, an interesting melted cheese and aioli--served with seasoned fries (not quite crisp enough). The quantity and quality of both meals was outstanding and priced reasonably for what we enjoyed.
We can only guess, but we think this would be a great place for dinner while enjoying a good selection of wines.
