“Very nice room - I was impressed.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2010

I know cheap motels and this is one of the best ones I have stayed in. The rooms were very clean and looked updated. The lobby was small and looked like they always do - but they added decor that made it look nice. The towels were soft - not crispy like many cut rate motels. The bed was fine. The free breakfast was less than great but that is not what I was there for. I will definitely stay here again.

“"mom, i cant believe we are staying at this roach motel".”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2010

I was booked this hotel thru a travel agency. When I pulled it up online and read reviews I was not satisfied at all however being that it was a done deal, I was willing to chance it. As we pulled in after our long flight my teens keep repeating, "mom i cant believe we are staying at this roach motel". I walked in and was not greeted in a very friendly manner I asked if my room was ready since I was a little early the lady be hide the desk said no rooms are clean right now I explained I had a paid reservation for the suite, her reply was “oh we do have a suite but its very expensive, its 139.00“. I was offended by that remark so I went on to explain the amount she quoted me of 139.00 a night was not expensive and I had already paid for five nights in advance. She than seemed to become much nicer and let me know my room was available than asked me if we needed any maps or directions. Walking in the room was very hot and muggy. It smelled like mold to me. Since the family was exhausted from our early morning flight they decided a nap would be good, i started to unpack and noticed the room seemed dusty and "not used" in a long time. I drove to the CVS and purchased air freshener and Clorox wipes I wiped down everything from the fridge to the light switches. I than began to feel a little more at ease. We are a family of five and I do want to say we did not use the sleeper sofa for it seemed dirty and wet to me. I didn’t want to sit on it. After our first day I got a little more familiar with the area. I became more comfortable. I do want to say the motel/hotel seems not to have any illegal activity (I am sure there is some but none visible) I felt safe after the first night was over. the first night I did put a chair by the door. The little breakfast is a good start they have your usual cereal coffee oj pastries. They have a computer in lobby for internet usage for those not traveling with laptops. Wifi service is good. I would personally stay here again if I would ever return back to the Pasadena Ca area since most of our traveling is out touring the city and not in the room. The area is not to bad its seems to be in a middle class area and not spray painted and gangsters hanging around the block. Cherrytop restaurant is in walking distance and is pretty good. there is a soda machine and snack machine on premise. I would recommend if they knew they had a reservation as a courtesy especially if the room has not been rented out in a while since “its so expensive” to turn on the ac to give it some air. Not your five star hotel but a decent place to lay your head once you get familiar and comfortable with the area. My restroom did have a hole in the ceiling which freaked my teens out, lol but did not harm to us. I would recommend it to my friends/family that are just looking for a decent nights rest. The suite room 201 is roomy. Parking area is small. Traffic can get a little noisy from room.

“Pleasant Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2010

We stayed at the Days Inn Pasadena 5 nights and had a great experience. It is very conveniently located to a variety of restaurants and shopping. We valued the proximity to the Arboretum, Huntington Library, Sta Anita Race Track, Old Town Pasadena and Rose Bowl. Breakfast was good, we loved the chocolate muffins and bagels. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. This is our second time in this hotel.

“Never Again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2009

This establishment offered me a new experience - I refused to stay there.
We pull in at about 9:30 p.m. - there is only one car in the parking lot - not a good sign.
I entered the shabby office area and heard from the back office someone calling "Just a minute."
The gentleman proceeded to charge my credit card, in advance, for three nights' stay. I argued with him at length that this is not customary and is not acceptable. He tells me it is "policy." (I later saw that this directly contradicts the "Payment Method" stated on their web site.) I should have walked out right then and there.
After seeing the room, and experiencing the "energy saving" electric service device (a slot in the wall into which you must put your one and only room key to get electricity, heat or AC in the room), we decided not to stay.
I went back to the office ("Just a minute...") and told the clerk that I refused the room. He told me I that my credit card would be refunded for two nights, but I would be charged for one night. When I objected, he picked up the phone and calls Central Reservations and handed the phone to me. Central Reservations was powerless to do anything about correcting my bill. They told me I'd have to talk to billing, who of course was closed because it was 9:30 at night.
My hands are tied and I'm being fleeced while submitted to horrible customer service.

Do as I did, go down the road a couple miles to the Courtyard Marriott where, for $20 more you will be treated as a welcomed guest by professionals and not like a suspected pillow thief.
