“Pasadena Old Town location was best part of stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2011

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night while visiting the area. Check in at the front desk was very smooth and the attendant made a point of offering to provide us with restaurant recommendations later if we would need them and directed us well. The room and lobby were nice for the level of hotel chain the Courtyard is and it is definitely the nicest and best kept in the immediate area. The room was clean, comfortable, and reasonably stylish.

The hotel has a "Bistro" that served food in the evening and breakfast in the morning. I was surprised, though, in the morning to see that this meant that the food was served somewhat cafeteria style where you pay as you go through a line and take your food and then go sit down. While that is fine if you are in a desperate hurry, if you have the time, I would highly recommend walking four blocks and getting breakfast at Marston's (best breakfast in Pasadena) on Walnut.

You are within easy access of walking to some really nice restaurants and some other sites. Old Town Pasadena is considerably gentrified and a hub for a lot of great restaurants, boutiques and other shopping. That being said, there's still a significant element of the seamier side evident in the surrounding area.

Be wary of issues with parking. Parking is at a premium in this area and the parking staff want you to valet. There is a sign that says you cannot go to self parking until you check in, perhaps because you need a room key to enter the hotel from higher levels of the structure. My husband specifically asked about self parking and was ignored both the first time he asked and the second time he asked the parking staff person. He finally stopped the man and got him to answer that yes there was self parking. My husband told him that he was going to self park as soon as he checked in, but the car was then taken to valet. After my husband insisted, the man agreed to return the car so he could self park, ($15/night for self parking, not sure how much more valet would have been).

I have stayed in many Marriott Hotels and have never been disappointed , and this is the third Courtyard establishment i have been to . Old Pasadena is a great choice in Los Angeles with everything thing that this vibrant city has to offer without the hustle and bustle of the City itself . Living only a 2 hour drive away from L.A i have tried many hotels in the area but none so conveniently located for pedestrian access to everything that you need .
Pasadena is a really quaint town that pleasantly caters to all budgets , and there is nothing better than to be able to park your car and walk about in total comfort . Parking is real drag anywhere in L.A so the $15 a night parking is not such a pain when shopping , sight seeing , eating & drinking , music and the lovely eclectic ambience that is Pasadena . People have mentioned that there are a lot of homeless people in the hotel area , which although true i did not find at all threatening . In fact this area has a small park area where live free music is played on Sundays .

No complaints. Can't wait to go back. Front desk personnel made us feel like we were at a 5-star hotel.

I can"t give an excellent but a very good example. I felt safe.
I was in Pasadena California for a 4 days family reunion. It was an ideas location one could easily walk to the mall to shop or restauarants to eat lot of choices. I"ve always liked the Marriott Properties they can be trusted to deliver a clean, comfortable stay. The rooms was very nice, clean and very modern. The lobby very large and modern. Hotel was very upscale looking, quiet, only we as guest made the noised. Staff was friendly and helpful especially the front desk. Definitely worth the money. The meeting room was a great service above average for the crown for banquet and breakfast for the family reunion. Each morning breakfast and dinner lot of varity to choose from. Happy hour was off the chain. We loved it and hope we"ll be back.

Thank you very much

The Pasadena Old Town Courtyard is an up-town version on the ubitquitous Marriott Courtyard. Superior location in Old Town. Very walkable to Colorado Boulevard - shops and restaurants and clubs. Valet Parking. Very friendly and helpful staff. Large and more cushy lobby with requiste coffee bar offerings. Menu has expanded - (although we recommend the two block walk to "Russell's" for a more Pasadena style treat.) Rooms have windows that actually open a bit for real air. Room size and amenities are on par with the usual - no negative surprises. Only drawback was we were booked in on a roomblock reserved for a family wedding. Hotel sales staff turnover lead to confusion and some mix-ups on rates. Things were straightened out to our satisfaction. All's well that ends well.

We have stayed in this hotel several times a year for more than a decade as we have friends nearby. The location is great as it is in walking distance of all of the shops and restaurants in Old Town. The lobby has recently been remodeled, and it is bright and welcoming. And i think they have the friendliest valets in LA! The rooms are clean and bright, and I really appreciate that they have now added magnifying make-up mirrors to the sink area. It is, by the way, outside the shower/toilet area so two can use the bath at once.
This visit I accidentally left my Rx glasses in the room. I contacted the manager who rushed to get them to FedEx the very same day and emailed as well as phoned me to let me know that FedEx would be a day late in delivering them. Needless to say, we will continue to make this our go-to hotel for stays in the Pasadena area!

I can't say enough good things about our stay at this hotel.

The service we received throughout our stay was impressive. We received a warm welcome when we checked in and each time we returned to the hotel after an outing. Michael, the Concierge, went above and beyond throughout our stay. The staff at this hotel clearly enjoy what they do.

The lobby is lovely and full of a beautiful collection of books covering topics of interest to Southern California visitors and residents. It's a comfortable place to relax for a few hours or to enjoy a nice glass of wine with friends after a night on the town. (I was pleasantly surprised to find one of my favorite Pinot Noirs available by the glass!)

The hotel location is hard to beat. We attended the LA Street Food Fest at the Rose Bowl (which was amazing!!) and this hotel is a very short walk to the Rose Bowl shuttle at Memorial Park. It is also a short walk to the shopping and restaurants of Old Town.

We also enjoyed the pool during our stay. Although it is a bit on the smallish side, it was perfect for splashing around with our children and for sneaking in a few laps as well.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again!
