“California Freshness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2014

I love the look and feel of the La Orange. It speaks to California and Pasadena in a very 1920s feel. It's unique in style and feel.
The menu too is unique one of my favorite things here are the deviled eggs. This is a menu item that you don't see a lot of on menus. You will find them on this menu and they are great!
I also like the olive oil cake here.
The place looks great, the service is good and the food is tasty - what more could you want?

“Quality, atmosphere, cost...all very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014 via mobile

Dined at La Grande Orange Cafe last night for the first time. The wait staff were friendly, the food was very good and the prices were reasonable. I get to the Pasadena area a couple times a year for a few weeks, so I will definitely visit them again. Highly recommended.

“Great setting disappointing food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

When you walk into the Gold Line train station in Pasadena you will find a beautiful setting. They have renovated the building to take advantage of the original structure with beautiful updated colors and stylish furnishings. The ambiance is the best part of the eating experience.
We went for lunch, seeking a nice luncheon salad, soup or combination. Our options were limited and we decided to each have a bowl of their baked potato soup and share a salad. The soup was very disappointing both in texture and flavor and the Cesare salad was just average. They do not offer cups of soup but, as it turns out, the bowl size is actually what many restaurants consider a cup size portion. We were not offered crackers or bread with our soup or salad.
We won't go back.
Maybe the small bar or the pizza restaurant that share the train station space are better choices.

“Healthy salad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

I arrived early about 5:30 but it was standing room only when I left an hour earlier. Service was friendly but very busy. I ordered the shrimp ceviche was was a large serving of medium size fresh shrimp with tomatoes, jalapenos, olives, avocados and onions. It sounds a bit weird but it worked. Extremely tasty without much sweetness. It was served with a large portion of fresh crisp tortillas. I also had the kale & quinoa salad which I was told was large. In fact, it was a hugh portion served in a mound (see photo). The kale had been marinated and was still crispy with grapes, lots of manchego cheese, quinoa and pine nuts. Chewy and tasty. I sat on the covered pation which was quite roomy. There were alot of families and the noise level was high but the area was quite lovely with a fireplace and propane for heat.

“Great Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

We have been here a couple of times and have really enjoyed La Grande Orange Cafe. The building is unique and old, I believe it is the old rail road building. It is right next to the Gold Line so you can get there with public transportation. It has a dark atmosphere, yet it is casual with great food. The short rib tacos are best. We have sat in the patio and in the main area, both good. The wait time was long for dinner during the week and the weekend, but the service was good. We will go back again.
