“Better hotel than expected. A nice surprise.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago via mobile

We arrived before 10am without reservations and the front desk staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. While we were having their complimentary breakfast the staff informed us that they expedited the cleaning of a King room and that it would be ready for us. The room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom was very clean. Everything was in working order. We were happy with our overnight stay. The only issue was the breakfast room in the lobby area. The food is located in one area and you have to walk through a small kitchen area to reach the eating tables. They should redesign the breakfast area so that the food and tables are near each other. For a budget hotel this was a great choice and it was much less expensive than other hotels of similar quality in Palo Alto.

The good points:
Good location, clean and the breakfast is ok

The things needs improvement:
The shower stream was really weak
You can hear every step in the room above you (I stayed at the ground floor)
Some noise from the hi way if you stay in the back rooms

The bottom line is it's an ok stay. If you don't expect much :)

We have stayed in several Comfort Inns and this one is as good if not better than most. Thought the price was a little high but Stanford did have a football game that day. The lady in reception was very pleasant and efficient. Breakfast was better than some we've had in Comfort hotels in the past. The hotel purports to be a non smoking establishment but ours definitely has a slight smell of cigarettes. We did not notice this initially as we had to book in very quickly as we were late for an appointment however when we returned late in the evening it was very noticeable. We did mention it to the night guy but he said there were no other rooms available, not certain this was true. We did mention this when we checked out and were told that it would be looked into when the very least we expected was some sort of discount. Surely this is something the housekeeping staff should of noticed.

The beds were comfortable. We had everything we needed in the room. The only things that bothered me were they had mold in the bathroom on the floor grout and the shower. The toilet paper roll was a ways away from the toilet so it was a bend and reach to get the toilet paper. We were in pinch and had to stay close to Stanford hospital. It will do for the night.

I was in town on business at Stanford and wanted to be close to the University. This is only a few miles away so the location was great. I don't usually stay at a hotel without internal doors but I made an exception due to the good price and the fact I was pretty confident this was not a sketchy neighborhood. The front desk clerk was super friendly and courteous and check-in was a breeze. The room was very clean and tidy with very basic amenities like shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer etc. The bed was also surprisingly comfortable and I sleep better than I have in much fancier places. The biggest downside was the noise. Since the room doors are external, I could hear all the street noise in my room as well as people walking by my room all evening. It also just makes me nervous to have just one door lock separating me from anyone walking by on the street...but it is a nice part of town so not too big of a deal.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel for someone doesn't mind staying in a room with just the basics and looking for a good value in Palo Alto. Most of the other options in the area are super expensive so this offers a decent alternative for the price.

I stayed here one night on business. Many hotels in Palo Alto were pretty expensive and the Comfort Inn was a decent budget option, although it was still pricey in my opinion. The room was nothing special, but was generally clean. The hotel did not provide conditioner, so bring your own. The "continental breakfast" that the hotel provided included pre-packaged pastries that are pre-stocked in your room. I had one problem with the room - the toilet. It was pretty old and would not stop running after you flushed it; I had to take off the tank lid to stop it from running. I alerted the front desk staff when I checked out and the woman behind the counter took down a report of the problem. Hopefully it's been fixed.

Great location for visiting Stanford University. Easy to get to back & forth, close to several restaurants and shops. Rooms are simple, but nice and clean. A two-story building, motel type arrangement, with room doors opening to the parking lot. Refrigerator & microwave in the room were very convenient. Great breakfast provided. Staff members were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: El Camino is a busy street and the hotel entrance in a little difficult to see due to the close spac...
