“Better than Comfort Inn, but watch out toilets flush like on a ship.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We came here for Stanford medical appt and preferred it to the Comfort Inn we stayed at last time. We found the price is better and the room was nicer and quieter. First of all, they gave us a Stanford patient discount which helped. Also, we were told that the farther we book in advance the lower the price. Our room was clean and came w/a Large flat screen t.v. and all the hookups for your computer needs. For those that don't have a computer, there is a complimentary one near the check-in desk. The front desk staff was always helpful and courteous. Our t.v. remote didn't work and when I brought it to the office, they cheerfully gave me an exchange for another remote and offered to come to the room if we had an future needs. This did work at first, but after awhile it didn't work. Since we were in our p.j.'s, and didn't want any staff in the room, we just manually turned off the power and read. We found the room quiet. It is set off the main drag, El Camino, about 1/2 block. We didn't hear the street noise like other hotels that are actually on the main drag. There is a sign on the main drag on the corner, which helps visitors find the location. There was ample parking. The bathroom had complimentary shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soaps, cotton balls and Q-tips. The office also had complimentary toothpaste and other hygiene items if you forgot anything. The frig and micro were nice and so was the coffee maker with complimentary coffee and tea. Besides the t.v. remote, the only other quirky thing was the toilet. It flushed w/such power. It sounded stronger than the cruise ships and felt strong w/the power being felt through the toilet handle.

Breakfast was the usual: cereal, fruit, toast, rolls, danish, juice, milk, hard boiled eggs, sausage, rubbery omelet style eggs and potato rounds that had no taste. Some people enjoyed making their own waffles .There were complimentary newspapers and enough tables and chairs and space to enjoy your breakfast.

This is also a smoke-free hotel which we appreciated for health reasons. They did have an area for smokers outside the building.

We have more visits to Stanford, and this hotel is approx 15-20 min away depending on traffic. We will definitely be staying here again.

“Workable and Well-located”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

I was visiting Standford and Palo Alto for business. This Quality Inn was well-located and comfortable. For just $85 a night I had a great room with all the needed amenities, hot breakfast included. The TV is a flat screen with all the ports for your laptop, tablet, phone, or whatever. What is nice about this location is that it is a block off the very busy El Camino Real. The other similar hotels are on that busy street whereas the Quality Inn is one block in on a residential street so there is no street noise. I also learned from chatting with the manager that the entire place is getting a remodel and overhaul in December 2012. (I had mentioned the refrigerator in my room needed the temp dial fixed.) Debbie, the day manager, was really helpful in pointing out services in walking distance, across the street: a family coffee place, a bodega, restaurants, etc. I had a car so that made the 1-2 mile drive to the campus or downtown very simple. There are also the many common retail stores in that same distance if necessary (including a Trader Joe's). If you are looking for comfortable, clean, basic, well-located and one step above, then this Quality in is a good choice.

Room Tip: There is a section of rooms of about ten rooms that are single story. The manager suggested that the...

“Worked for Me”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

I've stayed at Quality Inns & Suites in many cities. Overall, I'd say they are pretty consistent. The Stanford/Palo Alto location, were I've been staying the past couple of days, fits the mold. Clean rooms, nice staff, good breakfast, plenty of parking, and decent pricing. If I'm in the area again, I'd definately consider staying here again.

The location is not directly on El Camino Real. It's about 400 feet off the main drag, which I think helps keeps the noise level down.

“Staff really cares”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2012

I stayed to visit my daughter at Stanford. The place was very nice; no complaints. The people running the inn were very friendly and truly seemed to care to make the experience as good as possible.

Room Tip: I'd recommend the top floors, away from the cars and traffic.

“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

Nice, clean, the breakfast was fine (there's even a waffle machine), the hotel is a stone throw away from Stanford. Good value for the money - not overly expensive considering the location.
