“Workable and Well-located”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

I was visiting Standford and Palo Alto for business. This Quality Inn was well-located and comfortable. For just $85 a night I had a great room with all the needed amenities, hot breakfast included. The TV is a flat screen with all the ports for your laptop, tablet, phone, or whatever. What is nice about this location is that it is a block off the very busy El Camino Real. The other similar hotels are on that busy street whereas the Quality Inn is one block in on a residential street so there is no street noise. I also learned from chatting with the manager that the entire place is getting a remodel and overhaul in December 2012. (I had mentioned the refrigerator in my room needed the temp dial fixed.) Debbie, the day manager, was really helpful in pointing out services in walking distance, across the street: a family coffee place, a bodega, restaurants, etc. I had a car so that made the 1-2 mile drive to the campus or downtown very simple. There are also the many common retail stores in that same distance if necessary (including a Trader Joe's). If you are looking for comfortable, clean, basic, well-located and one step above, then this Quality in is a good choice.

Room Tip: There is a section of rooms of about ten rooms that are single story. The manager suggested that the...

“Worked for Me”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

I've stayed at Quality Inns & Suites in many cities. Overall, I'd say they are pretty consistent. The Stanford/Palo Alto location, were I've been staying the past couple of days, fits the mold. Clean rooms, nice staff, good breakfast, plenty of parking, and decent pricing. If I'm in the area again, I'd definately consider staying here again.

The location is not directly on El Camino Real. It's about 400 feet off the main drag, which I think helps keeps the noise level down.

“Staff really cares”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2012

I stayed to visit my daughter at Stanford. The place was very nice; no complaints. The people running the inn were very friendly and truly seemed to care to make the experience as good as possible.

Room Tip: I'd recommend the top floors, away from the cars and traffic.

“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

Nice, clean, the breakfast was fine (there's even a waffle machine), the hotel is a stone throw away from Stanford. Good value for the money - not overly expensive considering the location.

“Off the main drag, could use some cleaning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

We just spent two nights at Quality Inn Stanford/Palo Alto. This hotel is a typical 2-star property. For the area (expensive), it was reasonably priced. It is addressed as though it is on El Camino Real (main drag) but in fact it is on a side street (Ventura). There is a street level sign on the corner to direct you. This is a plus because many of the older hotels on El Camino Real are immediately facing the busy street and don't have very good noise protection. But, that noise protection isn't here either. Occupants can hear each other easily through the thin walls. It's not too bad, but definately noticable.

Plenty of parking, so getting in and out is easy. Several restaurants nearby, with donuts, Mexican and Hawaiian BBQ just across El Camino Real. Breakfast at the hotel is (again) normal 2-star, with cereal, toast, waffles, and a hot breakfast bar that features rubbery eggs, tasteless potatos and decent sausage. When we came in late in the breakfast service, we learned that they just let the eggs sit for the full three hours. (suggestion: put fewer into the heater, then add a few more now and then).

The room had a large (apparently new) TV that was very nice. Everything in the room worked, but the hot/cold handle on the bathtub seemed backwards to me (maybe it was just me). The room door could use some weather-stripping because you can see large gaps between the door and the frame. This may also help keep the room cleaner. As it is, I don't think the maids are able to keep the dirt out very well. The carpet had something that I kept stepping on, even after cleaning. Don't get me wrong, it's not a flea-bag, but don't expect your room to get a lot of cleaning attention every day.

The location is excellent for those who are going to Stanford University. It's about a 15-20 minute drive, depending on if you catch the lights. It is one of the closer hotels to Stanford and it doesn't cost a mortgage payment to stay there (like most near Stanford do).

We'd stay again. You get what you pay for.
